Trav smiled and reached for his fiancée’s hand. He pressed his lips to the back of her fingers. “I love you, Shay.”

“I know.”

“We’re getting married today.” He looked at her, because they weren’t even out of her sleepy neighborhood yet.

She met his eye, joy and love dancing through her expression. “Yes, we are.”

“You love me, right?” he asked, though he knew the answer. He’d teased her like this many times over the past few months since they’d gotten engaged.

This time, she didn’t roll her eyes and say,Yes, Trav. I love you, in a desert-like voice. She leaned toward him, her fingers in his tightening. “Yes,” she whispered as he drew closer to her too. “I love you, Travis Cooper.”

He kissed her, keeping this kiss chaste and simple. In moments like this, he could really experience how he felt about Shay, and when he could feel everything she held for him too.

“All right,” he said, his voice husky and quiet as she settled back into her seat. “Let’s go have our Hill Country eggs and then get married.”
