“I’m just gonna be frank, okay? I mean, we’re both adults and we are sitting on your bed with very little on.”

“Okay, continue.” Her face reddened again.

“The night I met you was quite by accident—which I am still sorry for, by the way. I was only there to make sure they got inside and then I was going to leave. After you yelled, which no one else heard by the way, you went back down the hallway in your T-shirt and thong.”

“Wait, how did you know I had a thong on?”

“Your T-shirt was kind of stuck in the waistband of your thong so you left a little hanging out. Not complaining though.”

“Oh, lord! Are you serious?”

“No worries, though. Lacey, seriously, you have nothing at all to be ashamed of.”

“Because that helps. Ugh, thanks a lot.” Then she covered her face again.

“So, where do we go from here?”Please don’t let her say it meant nothing and we’ll never see each other again. Please, please, please.

“I don’t really know. I was hoping you could tell me. I don’t seem to be in any shape to think at the moment.”

Jordon raised from the bed and grabbed his jeans from the floor and slid them on. He didn’t see her clothes but threw his T-shirt at her. “Here, maybe that’ll make you feel less exposed.”

“Thanks.”

“I’m not gonna lie, I was kind of hoping I could see you again. We didn’t really specify that last night was a date or anything and we were kind of thrown together without our knowledge but it was fun. I’d just like to do it again with you sometime. Soon. The going out part. Damn, I’m really bad at this.”

She laughed, so that was a good thing.

“You aren’tany worse at this than me. I couldn’t even succeed at making a real relationship last. Foot in mouth, that was me every time. That’s why I don’t usually date or go out. I work at the farm and I come home. That’s the extent of my social life. So, I say yes. I think we could go out again, soon, to do whatever.”

And when she said whatever, she meant whatever—even the stuff she really wished she could remember from last night.I’d at least like to know if we did do it, was I any good?

“I didn’t think you remembered anything else about last night.”

“What?”Oh shit! I thought I said that to myself.

“No, I don’t. But we were naked so don’t you think something happened?”

“Well, if anything happened, I’m sure you were great.” A loud knock sounded in the living room.

“Saved by the door—however, I’m not expecting anyone.” Could she get herself in any more trouble? She finished dressing quickly and they headed down the hall to find one of the kitchen chairs propped up against the door handle.

“I don’t remember doing that, do you?”

“Not at all but I think it was a brilliant idea, whoever’s it was. Maybe next time we go out, we shouldn’t drink so much.”

Another loud knock came from the other side of the door followed by yelling from one of the roommates.

“Shit, I am not in the mood to have a full-length conversation with either of them right now. Do you have your stuff? When I open this door, we need to make a mad dash.” She grabbed her keys from the table.

“Oops. I have your shirt. I can go change.”

“No,” he stopped her from going back to her room.”

“Keep it, we don’t have time for that. I’m just going home, anyway. One last thing though?”

“What is it?”
