He’d been thinking that Lilly would hand him his ass if he tried to kiss her.

But something about the way she had stared up at him with the city lights a halo behind her had told him she was feeling the same way he was.

Even now, as they waited for the tour to conclude, she was leaning against his chest. He’d put his hand on the back of the bench behind her again, and without hesitation she had snuggled in alongside him.

“I’m cold,” she said. “This breeze is chilly.”

He rubbed her arm and pulled her in tighter to him.

It was all fucking with his head, he had to admit.

Because it made him feel more than lust.

It made him want to turn fake dating into real dating. See where this could go, because he really enjoyed spending time with her.

And she was hot. There was no question about that.

But it was more than that.

So he lowered his hand to rest on her shoulder and pulled her closer against him. When she glanced up at him, he kissed her again, briefly, softly.

He could get lost in her eyes.

When the damn boat finally docked, he took Lilly by the hand and moved to the exit first.

There was a man selling flowers and he impulsively pulled out his wallet and bought her the biggest bouquet of the bunch.

“Liam, oh God, you don’t have to…” she murmured, at the same time she was biting back a huge smile.

“They’re not as beautiful as you, but you deserve them.” He handed the flowers to her.

Lilly took them and put them to her nose. The breeze was blowing her hair back and he felt like he’d taken a punch in the gut. A week ago, he never would have pictured he’d be buying Lilly Ferguson flowers but he was just going to roll with it.

It felt right.

“They’re lilies,” she said. “I can’t believe it. Did you pick this particular bouquet because of that?”

“Of course.” He’d had no clue what they were. He’d just wanted the showiest of the bunch. Which was ironic, because there was nothing showy about Lilly. She was definitely a natural beauty. Effortless.

She tilted her head and raised her eyebrows. “You’re lying.”

He couldn’t maintain the fib. “You’re right. I’m totally lying. I had no idea what kind of flowers they were, but hey, great coincidence.” He took her hand again, and tugged her forward. “Are you ready to go back to the hotel?”

It was a loaded question and she knew it.

“Is this a horrible idea? Are we going to regret this?” she asked.

“If I’ve learned anything, life is for living. I don’t plan on regretting one second I’ve spent with you.” He meant that fully. No matter how all this shook out, he wasn’t going to look back and want to change it.

She nodded, looking determined. “Then I’m ready to go back to the hotel.”

“Hell yeah.” He took her free hand and squeezed it. “One bed. Thank God for overbooking.”

Lilly laughed. “This is crazy.”

“If by crazy, you mean hot as fuck, then yes, it’s crazy.”

“Itishot as fuck,” she said, before her tongue slid across her bottom lip.
