My brows snap together. “What do you mean?”

“Youknowwhat I mean.”

“In bed?”

“Yes.”

I squirm; his gaze is too raw, too intense. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

“But Ineedto know.”

“Can’t we just drop it?”

Backing me against the wall, Nick puts his face very close to mine. Slowly, his lips part, his breath teasing the corners of my mouth.

“Tell me …” he murmurs. “Tell me everything.”

“W-what exactly do you want to know?”

“Was he good?”

I swallow hard.

“Was Andrew good?” Nick repeats.

“He never made me come,” I whisper.

He regards me steadily, his expression still serious. “Not even once?”

“Not even once.”

“Thank you for being so honest.”

“You’re welcome. Anything else you want to know?”

“No. That will be all for today.”

I smile weakly. “Please tell me that we’re friends again?”

In answer, he pulls me into his arms and holds me tightly. I sigh happily and nuzzle my face into his chest; he smells so damn good.

“I’d better get going,” he breathes, stroking my shoulders. “Your father will be home soon.”

“Oh, no, do you really have to?”

“Yes. You need to rest. My being here is doing you no favours.” I try to protest but he shushes me. Shrugging on his coat, he ushers me back to bed.

“When will I see you next?” I ask as he tucks me in. “Tomorrow?”

“It will probably have to be Tuesday or Wednesday. I’m going to Manchester for a conference on Monday.”

“But tomorrow’s only Saturday. Why can’t we meet then?”

“Tempting as that is, I think you need to rest this weekend, darling. You need to get your strength back.” He kisses me lightly on the forehead. “No more arguments. You’re going to rest, and that’s final.”

“Spoilsport,” I pout.

“Maybe so. But it’s for your own good.”
