“I wanted it to be special,” Brandon says, almost sounding disappointed.

“It will be special,” I counter, daringly running the flat of my palm up the front of his jeans, making him groan in a low tone.

“I meant somewhere special…not here,” he reasons.

“Then take me home, to your place. Or a ten-dollar hotel, I don’t care, Brandon. All I know is I just….,” I wheeze, feeling faint.

But his strong arms have got me and are sweeping me up off my feet in one single movement. I feel his shoulders and arms flex as he takes all my weight.

Lifting me up as if I weigh nothing.

“Then home it is,” he rumbles, taking long strides out the back door and easily stepping over the little fence that separates the two houses.

I don’t care if anyone sees us, not right now.

Right at this moment, the only thing that matters is giving myself to Brandon. I would’ve done that one thing last night if we hadn’t been interrupted.

But today is ours, with dad at work and not coming back until later. I can hardly contain my excitement until Brandon has us safely locked inside his new house.

The whole world disappears again, and it’s just as it should be.

Just Brandon and me.

CHAPTEREIGHTEEN

Brandon

A shower and a shave, a fresh change of clothes. The only thing I’m missing is my little virgin princess.

My queen is waiting.

I make sure to go next door while Steve’s still about, even though it’s early.

Don’t wanna give him any more paranoia than he’s probably already got, but Steve being Steve, seems to have forgotten all about his mood from yesterday.

And the prospect of more work coming his way seems to have eased his mind.

But as soon as he’s gone, so are May and me.

Right back to my new place, and it couldn’t be soon enough when May tells me that here and now is how she wants it.

I thought maybe a five-star hotel suite someplace or a rented cottage by the lake would be more romantic.

But she’s right. Anywhere that it’s just the two of us alone is gonna be special.

Her first time.Ourfirst time is something to be cherished. But what really matters to May is us, not where we are.

And following her lead as she swoons into my arms, along with the impossible hardness I’ve carried since yesterday?

I couldn’t wait another minute, let alone the hours it would take to have our special time anywhere else.

By the time we’re back at my place where we left off last night, we’re already kissing and clawing at each other by the stairs. I can’t help but feel like we’ve wasted a night apart somehow.

But it’s only made us want each other more.

Carrying May up the narrow wooden staircase to what I want to be our bedroom, for now, I can’t help but get a shiver.

Like, we’re actually doing this, and it’s all either of us has ever really wanted.
