Unfinished Business

Anna

His hair was of medium length and swept to the side, and his face was clean shaven. He wore a much more casual outfit today: khaki cargo shorts, Van’s, and a white V-neck t-shirt that revealed all the wonderful contours of his chest and abs.

His blue eyes held my stare, and I could tell he was as stunned as I was.

"Good morning, sir. I'm the cleaner you’ve been expecting."

"Oh, please, come in." He moved aside, and I stepped into a room set up in the basement. Damn, the room was a dump, with several empty cartons and paper plates strewn across the table. A bowl of popcorn was upside down on a sofa, and two empty soda bottles were on the floor.

"Pretty awful, huh?" he said as he swiped his hand through his hair, a look of embarrassment on his face.

He stood next to me, and I turned to face him. Damn, I was still attracted to him even after seeing he lived like a pig. I walked farther into the room and glanced at the small kitchen, not giving him a reply.

"It’s not usually like this. I don’t actually live here. I have a room in the main house, but I have had a ton of work, and this is where I come to get away from everyone. I was going to take care of the mess when I got finished with the project I was working on, but apparently I have to hire someone to do it, because I haven’t even had time to finish that project, and my boss tells me that he has another important project that must be completed at once. I don't like the staff from the main house prying around here, so I thought I’d hire someone who could clean it and then go away. But I never expected to see you here. From what I saw last night, I wouldn’t think cleaning is your forte." The last sentence was followed by a heavy silence.

"Um, I can handle it."

His eyes darted to my lips, and I bet he was remembering we had an unfinished business. I was standing in front of the man that had just screwed me in my dreams; Gush, my concentration dropped to nil with this man around me. I couldn’t get the dream out of my head, and I could feel the flush rise to my face.

"It would seem you lead two lives, Raven," he probed, not ready to let it slide.

I wasn't surprised, but I wasn’t expecting my two worlds to collide so soon. I wanted my night job to stay clear of my day job.

No, ass wipe, I just work two jobs! I don't have all the money in the world like you obviously do. I wished to rant, but I managed some control and forced a smile. "I'd rather not talk about any of my lives. I'm just here to do my job."

He narrowed his eyes at me, then he nodded. "I understand. I'll respect your wishes."

"Can I get started now?"

He nodded. "All right. Let me know if you need anything."

"Of course."

I set my cleaning supplies on the table and started working. He stuck his hands in his pockets and stood in the same spot, gawking at me. It was hard to concentrate with him watching me, but I needed to get the job done, so I looked away, gathering the empty soda bottles and popcorn bowl.

"I'll be in my bedroom until you finish here." He stared at my lips again, and then his eyes moved slowly down to my chest, desire etched all over his face.

Well, I wanted him too. I felt the familiar ache between my thighs that I had been trying to ignore since last night, and I almost jumped him, but I controlled myself. I would never get the job completed if I gave into my baser instincts. I needed to pull myself together and focus.

"Okay." Reluctantly, I looked away and returned to my duty.

I finally finished cleaning up the small kitchen and the office, so I headed to the bedroom to clean it. I walked through the passage and knocked gently. He opened the door, and I started to step in as he stepped out. He almost knocked me over, and he reached out and grabbed me, pulling me towards him. We gazed at each other as he held me in his arms.

Will you just kiss me already?

Instead, he let me go and moved aside, so I could enter the bedroom. "This is better."

I nodded and stepped inside, expecting him to leave. But he shut the door instead.

"This room seems much tidier."

"I don’t get to spend too much time in this room when I’m down here, so it stays pretty clean. Not even the bed sees much use."

He had the same look of desire on his face from before, and I wanted nothing more than for him to throw me on the bed and let both of us put it to use. Instead, I walked over to straighten the pillows, but I still saw him gazing at me from the corner of my eye. I bent down, tucking the white bed cover into the angles of the bed frame.

"You don't know how happy I am that you showed up at my doorstep."
