I drew the smoke into my mouth before I handed it back. A moment later, I released the cloud from my mouth.

It took her a second to take it, a bit shocked that I’d pulled a stunt like that when she was clearly pissed off and ready to swing.

I turned to Jerome. “You didn’t mention her.”

“Because she’s not available.”

“Pretty sure she’s available now.” I looked at her again, seeing her sitting on the table, smoking her cigar. She could make a disgusting habit look so damn pretty.

Jerome grabbed me by the arm and directed me into the other room. “She’s not like the other girls.”

“I can see that.” I stopped and looked past his shoulder. She was still on the table, her dress hiked up her thighs, sitting with a straight back with her hair across one shoulder. She seemed to sit there and enjoy her cigar, looking toward the main bar where she’d just caused a scene. “That’s why I want her.”

“There’s a waiting list.”

My eyes shifted back to his. “A waiting list?”

“Yes. And there’re about twenty-three guys on it right now.”

“A waiting list. For a whore.”

“Yep.”

I stared at him and swallowed my own disbelief. Her popularity only made me want to bed her more.

“And her payment structure is different. Not by night or weekend, but by month.”

“I don’t have a problem with that.”

“Well, Kyle has been checking in with me about her every month, so I’m sure he’ll hear about what happened tonight.”

“Who the fuck is Kyle?”

“The next guy on the waiting list.”

“I’ll pay double her fee if I’m next.”

Jerome gave a loud sigh. “It doesn’t work like that, Grave. I can’t just let you cut.”

“Everything comes with a price.”

“In the regular world, but not in our world. If any of the twenty or so guys find out I did you a favor, it’ll be my neck on the line.”

“Then I’ll just kill them all.”

“Be real, Grave.”

I was. Life had been pretty shitty lately, and my patience was nil.

My stare must have said it all, because he shrank back a bit. “I’m guessing it didn’t work out with Camille.”

My stare hardened.

“Grave, there’s nothing I can do—”

“How long did that asshole have left on his contract?”

“Uh…” Jerome faltered as he thought. “Maybe a month…I’m not sure.”

“Then I’ll buy out his remaining contract. Problem solved.”

“That’s never been done before.”

“Well, now it has.”

He glanced at Elise over his shoulder. “She has the final say, you know? Can’t make her do anything she doesn’t want to do.”

“She won’t say no.” I stepped around him and returned to the room where she sat, sucking on that cigar the way I wanted her to suck on my dick, smearing her lipstick over the edges. When I came close, she blew the smoke right in my face.

“What’d he do?”

She held the cigar with a lazy wrist like it was a cigarette. “Broke one of my rules.”

“Which is?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know.”

I held her gaze without blinking. “I would.”

She held my gaze for a moment before she cracked a smile. “Hold your horses, big boy. There’s a long line ahead of you.”

“A man like me doesn’t wait.”

“Is that right?” she asked, taking another puff of her cigar.

“I’ll buy out the remainder of Pavel’s contract. You’ll be mine for the next month.”

“You should make sure you can afford it first.”

I smirked. “Trust me, I can.”

“I’m not like the other girls, you know.”

“I can see that.”

“I need more than just money.”

“Such as?”

“I don’t like a wuss. Are you a wuss?”

All I did was stare.

“I need a man who owns every room he steps into. A man who can take me places. A man who can make me feel like a queen rather than a whore.”

“Consider it done.”

“A man who can make me come.”

I smirked. “I thought that was your job.”

She blew more smoke into my face. “Like I said, I’m not like the other girls. I’m more than just a woman you pay for. I’m a woman men reserve years in advance because that’s the only way they could be with a woman like me.”

“Meaning?”

“Why do you pay for sex?”

“Because it’s easier.”

“Exactly. Imagine if you could have more with a woman, experience real passion, real emotion, without having to worry about marriage, commitment, childbearing, all that bullshit they drop on you? That’s what I offer. Something real—but temporary.”

Now I was even more intrigued. “None of those things interests you?”

“Nope.”

“You’re young now. You may change your mind.”

“Trust me, I won’t.” The cigar was halfway burned, so she put it out right on the table she sat on like it was an ashtray. “Here are my conditions. No bullshit. Tell me how it is. I can take it, and it saves a lot of time.”

“Alright.”

“Lay a hand on me, and it’s the last thing you’ll ever do.”

“I’m not into that.”

“Last but not least, I’m never going to want anything more, so don’t bother.”
