“Why don't I order something for us.” Ben's voice sounded from right behind me, making me jump. His hands reached for my arms, steadying me. “Didn't mean to scare you.” He whispered seductively as I leaned back into his touch.

“Well, if you're buying.” Reluctantly, I made my feet move forward towards the draw with all the take out menus.

I liked to go old school when it came to restaurant menus. Yelp could be unreliable at times and who wanted to look at shoddy pics of a menu when choosing what to order. Hard pass.

Leafing through the dozen or so pamphlets, I came across the one I was feeling and handed it over to Ben.

“I'll take the number 57 and make sure to get us some beers. I'm running low.” I pulled at the hem of my shirt, bringing it to my nose. “I'm going to jump in the shower while you order.”

I didn’t bother to see if he followed directions.

Lathering my hair a few minutes later, I wondered if he'd come and join me. When I realized he wasn't going to, I found myself equal parts relieved and frustrated. It did, however, give me the chance to quickly shave my legs and make sure everything was still neat down below.

Toweling my hair as I entered the living room, I found Ben making himself very comfortable. Feet on the ottoman, he scrolled through Netflix trying to find something to watch. It didn't take long for me to notice that he had stripped himself of his suit jacket and had rolled up his sleeves, showing off his muscular forearms. I checked my chin for drool before letting him know I was there.

“How long do we have to wait?”

He turned, putting his arm over the couch to look at me before checking the time on his phone. “Should be here in 15,” he said, his eyes roaming over my outfit. I donned a silky short and cami combo that I only busted out when I had company. It felt sexy against my skin and the deep blue hue looked great with my hazel eyes.

I plopped down on the couch next to him, maneuvering so that my body faced his. “Why were you working so late tonight?” My shift had ended at midnight, so the fact that Ben came home after me meant he was pulling some long hours doing whatever it was he did.

Ben rubbed a hand through his scruff, my eyes tracking the movement. “I have a new client. It’s a big one and I’m working like hell to make sure he knows going with me was a good choice.”

I tucked a leg underneath me. “What exactly is it that you do?”

Ben laughed. “I guess we skipped that along with the introductions.”

“Probably not unlike many of your past sexual experiences,” I quipped, using my foot to kick him playfully.

One eyebrow lifted, giving me major Dwayne Johnson vibes. But I could see him trying to hold back a laugh. Eventually, he broke. “I suppose you wouldn't be wrong about that.”

I gave him a victorious smile, but didn't say ‘I told you so.'

But I didthink itreally hard.

He cleared his throat. “Why don’t you tell me what you think it is I do.”

“Oh goody, a game.” I rubbed my hands together. Despite my long day and busy shift, I caught a second wind playing with Ben.

I put a finger over my lip. “Let me think about it.” I used the moment to blatantly take in every inch of him. He puffed out his chest and I could see his muscles flexing. I shook my head.Guys.

“You wear a suit. A tie.” I stated the obvious. “Not a lot of guys wear ties anymore, so you are either super high up in a company, like a corporate yuppie, or you are in something like banking or finance.”

Bemused, Ben said, “Please continue.”

I tapped my finger against my lips, thinking. “You don't seem like you are enough of a bro for finance,” I hypothesized. “And you mentioned having clients, so I assume you do something like consulting.”

Ben's cocked his head. “I do, actually.”

I nodded as if it were obvious I was right. “I'm not sure the specifics though. PR, maybe. Media management? Something like that.”

Ben chuckled and I waited for him to confirm my guess. “Online advertising.”

I leaned against the hand rest, stretching my laced fingers in front of me.

A knock distracted me from my victory. Our heads whipped to the door, neither of us moving. “You should get it,” Ben said.

“You scared?” I poked at him literally and figuratively as I walked to the door. “Food's here.”
