Errin hiccupped and smiled over the rim of her half full shot glass. Brennan eyed his cousin’s gaze wandering over Errin’s tempting body. She sat on the worn wooden chair in a black halter dress that halted mid thigh over her crossed legs.

Her wavy hair fell down her back and her light blue eyes sparkled because of some cobalt blue eye make-up. Her red lips distracted him from her natural beauty. She hadn’t worn this kind of make-up around him before, and she sure didn’t need any of this stuff.

“What in the hell is goin’ on here?” Brennan boomed as he towered over Errin, standing next to her chair. She swallowed the second half out of her shot glass and placed her Ferrari-red fingernails against her luscious red lips. Her doe eyes gazed up at him, and he detected the start of a brief smile.

“Hey, Cuz. We’re just having some drinks. Wanna join us?” Keenan smiled as if he wanted Brennan to play his juvenile drinking game with them.

What an arsehole his cousin was. If Brennan would be on a date with Errin, he sure as hell wouldn’t go to her place of work. Let alone let another guy join them at their table.

“Sure.” He smirked while taking a very close seat next to Errin. He laid his arm over the backrest of Errin’s chair and eyeballed the competition.Bring it the fuck on, sucker.

What started out as having some innocent drinks with Keenan after her dinner with Kate and Don, escalated quickly into a cold war.

Maybe her vision wasn’t all that clear after downing two shots with Keenan earlier, but the sudden icy atmosphere was killing the mood.

She glimpsed next to her, at Brennan who smirked at his cousin Keenan like a certified mad man. He was kinda scary with this big ass fake smile on his worried-lined face, above that sexy beard he just recently started sporting.

As always, she talked before thinking things through and blurted, “What’s the difference between a G-Spot and a bottle of Jack Daniels?”

Brennan groaned next to her, but Keenan sprouted his beer all over the table.

“Fuck, didn’t see that coming. At all.” He said after wiping his face clean with a dark green napkin. Errin’s eyes fixated on the yellow Lucky logo on top. She tried to focus, but her vision blurred.

Keenan took another couple of napkins and tried to wipe the table clean from his spilled beer. He shook his head, chuckling. “I’m kind of scared of hearing the answer.”

Errin grinned and placed her hand on top of his as he wiped the table. “No need to fear little ‘ole me.” She gave an exaggerated wink for emphasis. Brennan cleared his throat, and she suddenly remembered sitting at Pops’ table at Lucky and instantly retreated her hand.

These two Mills cousins were in the middle of a stare down before she threw out the first joke that came to mind. With any luck, the ice would break between them and they all would get along.

She focused on Brennan when he rested his hand at the side of her neck, just under her jawline. Did he pick up on the fact that her heart suddenly increased its pumping as his fingers rested on her pulse? His thumb stroked the corner of her bottom lip, probably smearing her lipstick all over her face.

She tried to pull away, but he held her in place and locked his eyes on hers. In that exact moment, she was now certain of what she’d questioned these past days while working with him in the pub.

He wasn’t over her. Just like she wasn’t over him. He still cared.Fuck him.

“A guy will actually SEARCH for a bottle of Jack,” she whispered.

Keenan snorted, but Brennan smiled at her. They both knew how much he hated her deflections. But he was on his way to get a little piece of her that no one ever held before. Maybe if he hadn’t stomped all over that same heart, she would let him.

From the corner of her eye, she spotted Keenan rising from the table. But she didn’t acknowledge him.

The bright green orbs in front of her mesmerized her, pinning her down to her seat. She couldn’t move a muscle. She sat in the center of his attention and wanted to stay in the eye of this proverbially tornado storm forever.

“Tell me why you’re leaving, Lips.”

He knew? Who told him? Why? She wanted to be the one to tell him. Shit.

“Don’t look so shocked. Or where you never going to tell me?” he said.

Her eyes narrowed, and she tried to jerk her cheek from his hand, but he didn’t let her.

“If you’d let me talk to you out back a few days ago, I’d have already told you.” She jutted her chin and dared him to argue.

“So it’s true then? You’re walking out? Leaving Lucky?Leaving me?” he said the last words while slamming his fist against his chest. Shit.

She shook her head to let his other hand fall down from her cheek. “Leavingyou?”

“Yeah. Leavingme,” he said.
