Bringing them closer, I hugged them to my chest, whispering in their ears how much I loved them. Two tiny fists curled into my hair on either side, holding me in place like they knew I needed to be held together.

Kane was the first to make a move, pulling Anya from my arms the moment I relaxed. Levi did the same with Avery. Avi cooed over Kane’s shoulder while Niko fussed over Avery’s sweet curls. My mates were already the best fathers, loving their girls with their whole hearts.

Before I could worry that they might pick a favorite, they switched, giving their daughters the same attention. These girls would be perfectly loved, and not just by us, but the entire town.

Soft giggles filled the air as Avi tickled Avery's tummy, and it was the best sound I'd ever heard. We had been through hell and back again to get to this point, but now that we had them, I knew everything was going to be okay.

We were all going to thrive in Emberwood and make it a place anyone would be proud to raise their families. Our town would become the stronghold our ancestors should have created, one that included dragons, witches, vampires, and wolves alike.

Epilogue

Farren

Five years later

Isat on the sloping hills next to Mountainview, watching my girls and their little brother run through the grass, enjoying a sunny day. When the magic flowed into Emberwood, it had changed the climate as well. We had sunny, warm days along with our usual freezing cold ones. It was an odd mix, but we'd all adjusted pretty easily.

It took almost a year to get all of the necessary repairs done, and now we had a cemetery that took up a large plot of land at the back of town, featuring a monument in its center to recognize those who’d lost their lives that day. Even the fallen soldiers were welcome there; the humans deserved a respectful burial despite the atrocities they’d tried to inflict.

If not for Caspian and Lance’s aid, though the latter was a bit more selfish in his reasons, we would have lost far more that day. I was grateful they had given us the advantage they did.

Caspian and his mate Katarina had stayed with us, claiming one of the newer homes as their own. And now, five years later, the town was twice the size it had been before. Word of Emberwood spread in supernatural communities, and many had flocked here, seeking out the fully mixed environment that we provided. There was no separation due to species, magic, or lack thereof.

Connie’s diner was still a favorite, and they'd had to expand into an abandoned shop next door to accommodate the influx of new people. Angela had taken the shop on her other side and opened a bakery that Beau helped run. If anyone had told me the grumpy, curt dragon would be doling out cupcakes and smiles, I’d have laughed, but it was nice to see him changing along with everything else.

The town had even more stores and jobs now, and West had settled into his role as the new mayor beautifully. It was a responsibility that had basically been forced upon him, but no one knew this town better than he did. And once he took over, it changed everything. Even more supernaturals came flooding in, and the town now had a website that was searchable only for supes.

Quinn and Katarina hadn’t had any ominous visions since the day of the battle. A true peace had settled over Emberwood, and I hoped that it continued for years to come. My family was thriving. Our town was thriving.

And as I looked down at my swelling belly, I couldn’t help but smile. I might not have gotten a big family while growing up, and I may have spent a large portion of my life going through hell, but now that I was on the other side, I was grateful for how strong it all made me.

My mates joined me, and I took a deep breath of their combined scents. Seeing them lose the tension that had followed them around from the day we met meant everything to me. We all laughed and smiled more, breathed easier, and enjoyed every day we had with each other and our babies.

They spent their days showing my girls and our son how much love there was in the world. We had adventures and lessons and loved with our whole souls. And at night, they showed me with their bodies how much they loved me.

Life was truly perfect.
