She had showered the second she got home and thrown on her good robe. Part of her felt like dressing up when he had texted asking if she was finally off her shift and open to company, but the other devious part of her thought he might like seeing just her robe.

Of course when she had said as much, Troy very much affirmed her decision by requesting her to keep it on until he rushed over.

He stepped inside and greeted the cats who each walked to give rubs and head butts of affection to Troy’s legs. “I missed you. How was work?” He walked in the kitchen and put a bag from The Perfect Cup on the counter.

“It was okay. One call. Laura wasn’t working so I missed her. Mainly just worked out and helped Buzz get ready for some programs we’re doing this summer.”

“I brought huckleberry muffins.”

Megan took a big sniff from the bag and exhaled in bliss. “Am I that easy to read?”

Troy took her by the hips and propped her against the counter, kissing her fully on the mouth, exploring, tasting, and looking for more. Knowing exactly what she needed, he trailed kisses down her chin and up toward her ear, making her giggle with delight, before making her burn with want when he hit that spot on her neck that melted her legs into jelly.

“So soft and warm,” he murmured into her neck, the vibrations of his deep voice making the sensation that much stronger.

His hands ran up her back, sending thrills of excitement with them as they traveled, and he cupped her face while he planted kisses all over her including on her forehead, leaving his lips there for a few pounding heartbeats.

“What do you want to do?” he asked with his lips still on her head. He had asked before while they were texting.

“I want more of what we did last time. I loved it.”

He pulled back and searched her eyes. His brown eyes were darker in the middle, but faded to a rich warmth that had flecks of gray around the outer edge.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“You let me know if you want me to stop.”

“I won’t want you to.”

“If you do.”

“I appreciate that.”

He leaned in for a kiss, and she met him willingly, giving so much of herself, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and lifting herself up on her tiptoes to reach more of him.

Troy’s cologne enveloped her with the familiar sense of belonging she had loved before. She breathed in deeply while he went back to her neck, grounding herself in this moment with him and the smell of his hair and the feel of his slight stubble on her sensitive skin.

He slipped his arms down her shoulders and inside her robe, cupping her bare shoulders with his hands. The touch of him on her smooth skin sent a shiver over her body, and she knew it wasn’t from the room temperature even though she was completely exposed.

He pulled back with a little line in between the eyebrows. “Are you cold out here?”

“Not really,” she said, surprised he noticed, as another shiver of anticipation fluttered over her.

“Ready for bed?” he asked, his voice full of concern. “I don’t want you cold.”

The heat her body was giving off with his hands on her skin was enough to make her burst into flames on the kitchen floor.

“Let’s go. I don’t want an audience.”

Troy smiled and glanced down to see Lincoln looking up at them with a bored, unimpressed expression.

She led him into the bedroom, taking care to close the door behind them for privacy, and started to move toward the light and candle when she remembered what happened last time and stopped short.

“Turn it off.” Troy’s voice was low and right next to her ear.

She clicked the switch on the multicolored lamp and plunged them into darkness. It was a full moon, so the moonlight pooled on the floor, illuminating the shadow of the windowpanes, giving just enough light for her to see the silhouette of the man in front of her walking forward, slow and deliberate.
