“Cam just saw me with a towel and nothing else on.” I moan as I lodge my forehead against my palm.

“Ohhh, how did Mr. Always-in-Charge react?”

“I don’t know. I was trying too hard to keep the towel holding on at my boobs. I must have grabbed one that was Trinity’s because it was bursting.”

“Or, it could be your ample tits,” she jokes, making me giggle.

“Blessed would be an understatement,” I agree. “He’s never looked at me like that before.”

“You’ve wanted him to for years,” she reminds me.

“I know.” I groan. “But I just recently convinced myself that I would never have a shot with him. Now here he is, looking at me like he’s seeing me for the first time. His eyebrows shot up a mile into his hairline and Hayden? He adjusted himself.”

“Because you brought him to attention.” She giggles.

I wish I could be as confident as her. She and Danny have the kind of relationship everyone else wants. They love and respect each other, but are also great friends. “Maybe he was just surprised to see me standing there in a towel?”

“Possible, but also possible he was surprised at the bangin’ body you hide behind your clothes. Anywhoozle, I gotta go.”

“See you at lunch?”

“Definitely. Be prepared to tell me more about Cameron and his reaction to your barely-clothed body.” She snickers before hanging up.

With a sigh, I lean back against the bed.

The one Cameron sleeps in whenever he’s able to get some rest at home.

The one that smells like him. It’s where I find myself going at night when he’s not here and I’m watching Trinity. It used to be, I was slightly scared to be here on my own. Especially when Trinity was young.

I’d never watched a small child before. All I’d known was that Cameron needed help. Instead of being scared, I’d pulled up my big girl panties and offered to watch his three-year-old.

Since then, she’s become one of my absolute best friends and trusts me with her life. Which, for someone who’s dealt with abandonment the way she has, means the world to me.

My watch beeps, reminding me I have to be at work soon. Shaking my head, I try to get a handle on my wayward thoughts. Until I see Cam again, by himself, I’m going to overthink it all.

It’s what I do.

Getting up, I head to the spare bedroom I use when I do overnights. In this room, there isn’t the scent of Cameron hanging around and right now that’s what I need.

Going over to the closet, I reach in and grab my work shirt. The good news is, I can wear whatever I want on the bottom. Today? That’s a pair of shorts.

It only takes a few minutes for me to put on my clothes and swipe some mascara onto my eyelashes. My hair goes up easily before I walk around the room grabbing everything I need.

As I leave, I pass Cameron on my way to town.

He honks and I wave, before wondering if he’s thinking about how I looked with only a towel on.

Cameron

“Shit.”I sigh as I watch Nat’s SUV drive past on the way back to the house. There was a part of me that hoped she would still be there when I got home. Not that I know what I would’ve done, but there would’ve been an option.

An option I haven’t considered before.

One that’s now beating against the locked door that’s been holding back the passion I tried to convince myself I no longer had.

That passion has laid dormant since my ex-wife Rebecca left, judging by the way my cock is pressing against the zipper of my jeans, appears to be back. It’s not like I haven’t had a few nights here and there with other women, but it was only for the physical release. Not for the emotional passion.

“What would you have done?” I ask aloud. “Just what the fuck would you have done?”
