“Hmmm?” was all she responded with, pretending to inspect her cuticles.

“Stop bitching and kiss me.”

She practically launched herself at him, wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her mouth to his, kissing him like it might be the last time. Like it was the first time all over again. He pressed her into the corner of the elevator, kissing her back.

This is home. Parker Carrington feels like home to me.

She couldn’t get close enough. She grabbed his jacket and pressed herself against him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and worked her hands under his shirt. She'd missed his skin, his body. He groaned against her mouth, running his hands down to her butt and pulling her in tight against his pelvis.

She put her hands behind her and gripped the thick hand rail that ran around the middle of the elevator. She hoisted herself up so her butt was on the edge, and then wrapped her legs around his waist. He ran his hands up her thighs, squeezing when he got to where her legs met her hips.

"I missed you so goddamned much," he whispered raggedly.

"I missed you more. Why did you wait so long?" she asked, running her hands up to his shoulders.

"I thought you might hate me," he told her, running a hand into the back of her hair while he kissed along her shoulder.

"I could never hate you," she replied. He chuckled against her neck.

"I thought I hated you. I wanted to hate you. I wanted to not think about you every damn day,” he breathed. She gently pushed him away. He looked at her like he was in pain. She'd never seen him like that before, and she never wanted to see him like that again. Parker should only ever be smiling.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered, smoothing her hands down the sides of his face.

“That’s why I didn’t want to see you. I was too angry. At you, at everything, mostly at myself. For a long time,” he said, putting his hands in his hair. “And then when I found out you were here, I was kinda shocked. I wanted to come, I didn’t want to, I didn’t know if I wanted to. And I waited,” he explained. Paige nodded.

“That’s what I did. I waited. I was beginning to think you wouldn’t come back to me,” she whispered, pressing her forehead against his.

“I’ll always come back for you,” he replied. She chuckled.

“Took you long enough this time,” she said. He laughed.

“Eight months isn’t so long,” he told her.

“The fuck it isn’t.”

He burst out laughing and the elevator came to a stop. As the doors opened, he grabbed her under her butt and hiked her up against him, carrying her out of the elevator. As they walked down the hallway, a loud gasp happened behind them and Parker swung them around. An old lady stood in a doorway, gripping a newspaper. Paige grinned as Parker continued on towards her apartment.

“Sorry, Mrs. Shumacher. Don’t worry, he's allowed to do this to me,” she called out as Parker continued through the door she'd left open. He kicked it shut behind them.

He sat her down on the back of her couch and her cat hissed, jumping down. They both laughed and Paige worked off his jacket. It fell to the ground with a heavy thud, which seemed loud in her quiet apartment. She paused and looked at him. He raised an eyebrow.

“Shy?”

She snorted.

“Just trying to decide if I can wait until we make it to the bedroom, or if I should just drop your pants here,” she replied. He laughed and rubbed at the back of his neck.

“Paige, is this really okay? It's been a really long time. I wasn’t trying to just storm into your life and sleep with you the first time we saw each other. I’m not gonna walk out that door and disappear. If you want me, I want to see you. This can wait, you know, we can just catch up with each other,” he assured her. Paige rolled her eyes.

“Only you, Parker, can have a conscience while someone is undressing you,” she told him. He glared at her.

“Hey, I’m just trying to be a good guy here, I don’t want to do something we might regret,” he pointed out and she laughed.

“My god, you really are such a girl,” she teased. He gripped the hair at the base of her skull and pulled so her head tilted back.

“Call me a girl again, and I’m going to prove to you how much of a man I am,” he warned, staring down at her. She smiled slyly.

“Girl,” she said softly. He sighed and let her go.
