“... crustaceans would be able to tell you like her ...”

Paige was nestled intothe corner of the sofa, completely asleep. Joey and Parker chuckled, watching her. It was around four in the morning. Paige hadn’t had much to drink after they got home, but she'd shared a joint with them. After talking and laughing for a while, she'd leaned back against the sofa. She'd seemed content just listening to the two guys catch up, but when Parker had looked back at her, she was asleep.

“I still can’t get over how you let her call you by your full name,” Joey snickered. Parker sighed.

“I tried to get her to stop – she’s a little, shall we say, strong willed. I learned to get over it. I almost kinda like it now,” he said, his eyes still on Paige’s face.

“Ooohhh, then can I call you by your full name, too?” Joey asked in an excited voice. Parker gave him a dark glare.

“Let me clarify. I like it whenshesays it.”

Joey snickered some more.

“So you met her in a police station?” he asked. Parker nodded.

“Yeah. She had gotten picked up for hitchhiking. I was in for unpaid parking tickets. So uncool,” he laughed. Joey nodded.

“How long do you think you’ll drive around with her?” he continued with his questioning.

“I don’t know. As long as she wants me around,” was his response. Joey frowned.

“Park. That’s not really fair to you, is it? What do you want? And what about your dad ...” Joey let his voice trail off. Parker frowned and stood up.

“Let’s not go there. C’mon, help me get her up the stairs,” he grumbled.

He shook Paige on the shoulder, but her head just rolled around and she let out a snort. Joey burst out laughing but Parker just smiled. He was very familiar with the Paige Davis Snort. He shook her again and she burrowed deeper into the couch.

“Man, she is out,” Joey snickered. Parker sighed and grabbed Paige’s arm, hooking it around his neck.

“Paige, it’s beddy-bye time, let's go,” he urged as he hoisted her to her feet.

“Ten more minutes,” she mumbled, her head falling forward. He wrapped an arm around her back and lumbered towards the stairs, practically dragging her.

“You gotta help, move your feet,” he urged. She let out a snore. Joey snickered again.

Groaning, he gripped her back more firmly and then swung her legs up so he was cradling her in his arms. Her head fell back and her jaw hung open. Joey’s snickering went to all out laughing. Parker glared at him before securing his grip on her and starting up the stairs.

“What are you ... I don’t wanna ... sleep ...,” she grumbled, lifting her head once and glancing around before letting it fall back again.

“Bed time, Paige. But I swear, tomorrow night you’re carrying me up the stairs,” he replied. Joey just continued laughing and followed them into Paige’s room.

“Don’t leave me,” she mumbled as Parker finally laid her down. She was stretched out, her legs bent awkwardly. Her mouth was open again and she had a hand balled into a fist near her face, making her look young.

“Should we change her clothes?” Joey asked from behind him. Parker turned around.
