“That ... was ... incredible, Parker,” she breathed.

He couldn’t believe it. He grabbed his bag and walked into the bathroom, stopping in the doorway.

“No, Paige, that was fucked up.”

“... a really pissed off, ready to kill someone, burn down this fucking house, man ...”

They'd both mumbledapologies the next morning, but there was very little speaking. Paige had a feeling things had gone too far the night before; they'd both said and done some pretty awful things. Worse, when she'd first woken up, it had been to find Parker moving silently around the room.

He'd been stuffing all the garbage into his precious, now beat up, styrofoam cooler. He left it next to the trash when he went to take the rest of his bags out to the car. Obviously, he felt like he didn’t need it anymore, which to her was a sign that he didn’t plan on driving around for much longer.

He eventually just stayed outside, smoking the entire time while she got ready. She finally wandered outside to find he'd already checked out and was even waiting in the car. They spent the drive mostly silent, except for when Paige had to give him directions. He even smoked while he drove, another thing he rarely did.

She kept glancing at him. His bottom lip was swollen and she flinched, rubbing at bruises of her own. The sex had been mind-altering, life changing, amazing – and it made her feel sick that it happened under horrible circumstance.

After he'd gone into the bathroom, she'd meant to stay up so she could calm him down. But after an hour or two of very aggressive sex, she hadn't been able to keep her eyes open. She woke up in the middle of the night to him sleeping on the complete opposite side of the bed, as far away from her as he could get.

Amazing sex definitely hadn't been worth it – it had just driven a huge wedge between them.

Paige felt awful, like someone was squeezing her neck. This was it, she knew it. He was gonna drop her off outside Trent’s house and just drive off, leaving her there. She felt a panic attack coming on and wanted to pull her hair out. She didn’t want Parker, but she did want Parker. She wanted him to leave her alone to do her own thing, but she wanted him there right beside her as she did it.

She was freaking out.

“Parker,” she breathed, pressing a hand to her throat while she looked forward. He glanced at her.

“Hmm?” was all he said in reply.

“Please stay,” she whispered.

“What? I can't hear you.”

“Stay,” she urged.

“What do you mean?” he asked for clarification.
