“Holy shit,” she said, as she flew into the room.

“Alley, are the paramedics here? She is having this baby now!” Kace asked her.

Before she could answer, the room was full of people. Crippling pain continued to take over my body but I still took in the sea of people that swam in my vision. Here I had been worried about one person seeing me and now I had a whole army of people in the small room ready to help. Not only had the paramedics arrived but Alley, Summer, Jurnee, and even Gemma were there, and I could hear male voices in the hall.

Then another voice pierced through the room and although I was in some serious pain, I couldn’t help but laugh.

Charging in the room as if being chased, which I realized seconds later she was, Embry ran right over to the bed.

“Want me to help you have the baby? I did a good job when my momma had my brother. I just can’t look at any of the icky stuff, k?”

It happened so fast, before I could respond, Braxton had flown into the room after his daughter, his head turned and swooped her up in his arms. As he raced out of the room he yelled, “I didn’t see anything!”

“Everything okay in here?” a deep voice belonging to Gyth said, his head barely peeking around the corner.

My response was a high-pitched scream as another contraction hit.

“Oh shit, sorry.” And that got rid of Gyth.

This was crazy and a whole other aspect to giving birth I had never imagined. But I had a feeling I’d be having a good laugh about it one day. I couldn’t think about it anymore right then because my baby was done waiting for the circus that was happening around us.

“Sir, everyone is going to have to move out of the way so we can help your wife,” one of the medics said.

Nobody had time to contradict his assumption as I wailed again. One of the medics moved in and Kace got out of his way.

He couldn’t leave, not now. Ineededhim.

“Honey, do you want me to have Alley stay with you?” he asked.

I adored Alley but it wasn’t her I needed right then.

“I needyouto stay. Please, Kace, don’t leave me?” I pleaded.

Kace glanced at Alley and I turned her way. I felt awful, but Alley didn’t look upset, she smiled and motioned for the ladies to leave and then said, “You got this, girl.”

No more than a second after she left, I was pushing, pushing, and pushing some more as I screamed out, Kace’s hand clenched in mine. “I can’t do this!” I cried out.

“You are one of the strongest women I have ever met. You can do this. Now let's bring your precious little one into the world. Push, honey.”

With a couple more pushes and Kace’s encouraging words, I finally felt the pain ease and the sweet cry of my baby.

“It’s a boy,” Kace announced before the medic could even say a word. “Teal, you have an amazing baby boy.”

Tears of happiness poured down my cheeks.

“Sir, do you want to cut the cord?” the medic asked, looking at Kace.

His eyes came to mine in complete panic, but I would rather him do it. “Do it for me and the baby, please?”

Taking a deep breath, he moved over and did what I asked. I know it was probably wrong of me to have put that on him after all he had gone through and our short history but it was a big moment and the thought of it not being someone special just didn’t seem right.

“Thank you,” I whispered as he came back to my side.

“Anything for you,” he whispered back.

The air around us sparked and our eyes clashed with intensity. Something had changed in a second. The moment was broken as the medic came toward me, and laid my sweet baby boy on my chest, then covered us both up with a blanket.

It was the best possible feeling in the world.
