My heart brokeat the sound of her cries.

A clusterfuck of epic proportions stood in our way of leavingNo Surrenderas soon as desired. Between dealing with the few clients that had been in the gym during the shooting, each of us giving statements to the police, plus getting the cleanup and boarding of windows started, it had taken some time.

My one saving grace at getting Teal home myself was that our newest member, Rowan, who had just left work shortly before the shooting, had shown back up, rolled up his sleeves, and took over the manual labor to secure the building. He had been a great asset to the company and the guy was all about the job, working hard, and focused. Rowan reminded me of myself until Teal showed up and I let myself feel again. With some of the details of his past that I knew, I could understand why he was the way he was.

It was also a good thing that Braxton and Gyth had managed to talk their wives, who were beside themselves, into staying home and not rushing down, which I know they wanted to do so they could make sure everyone had been okay.

But it was the last bit of news that Landon had shared with us that had truly done Teal in and a huge contribution to the horrifying sobs I could hear from outside her bathroom door.

Landon had dropped Alley off so she could come in and bring Denver back to Teal. He knew she would be chatting for a bit so he took their daughter and ran to grab a few things from the store, but while there he got a call that was awful and scared the crap out of him.

His friend, the lawyer helping Teal, was also in the hospital. Knowing both he and Lyric were hurt and feeling like it was her fault, once the adrenaline melted away, she had been struggling.

Landon rushed back to the building, but when he had gotten there shit had already hit the fan. His buddy, Lance, had been working and the only one in the building when a guy came in and beat him pretty badly, leaving him with some broken ribs, a concussion, and had stolen Teal’s divorce file.

It then was clear how he had found her and where she worked.

Baby monitor in hand and not being able to stay away from her any longer without checking on her, I slowly inched the door open and called out to her.

“Hey, Little Momma, you okay?”

No response but more sobbing pierced my ears and I was about to come unglued. Struggling between giving her privacy and not scaring her and barging in to see for myself she was okay, I battled a war within myself.

Making sure my woman was fine won over giving her space and I pushed the door the rest of the way open, advancing further into the bathroom. I set the monitor on the bathroom counter and moved across the cream tile floor toward the multi-colored floral shower curtain that blocked Teal from my view but not from my ears.

She sounded broken and devastated.

“Honey, I need to know you are okay,” I called out.

“Kace?”

“Yeah, baby, it’s me. I can’t handle hearing you so upset and I am sorry I came in, but you were worrying me.”

A series of sniffles and hiccupping puffs of breath followed as she tried to bring air into her lungs. “C-can y-you hold me?” she stuttered.

Praying she knew what she was asking and didn’t freak out because that was the last thing she needed, I slowly pushed the curtain to the side. The sight of Teal sitting in the tub, water raining down over her naked body, knees curled up to her chest and head between them, devastated me. Not thinking another minute about it, I kicked off my shoes and stepped into the tub behind her, fully clothed.

Sinking to my ass, I positioned my legs on each side of her, and gently wrapped my arms around her, pulling her back against me. Her head came up and laid back against my chest as she sunk back tight against my body.

I wasn’t thinking about the first glimpse I’d got of her beautiful naked form or the way she felt against me. Okay, that was a lie. I am human and in love with the woman that rested in my arms, one I had been dying to touch. But I was fighting all those feelings off because that was not what had mattered most right then. Comforting her and making her feel safe was my top priority.

But then she turned the tables and my world flipped upside down.

Pulling away slightly, Teal turned in my arms and straddled my middle. Wrapping legs around my back, she clung to me like a monkey as her arms circled my neck. Chest to chest, she laid her head on my shoulder, her sweet mouth a hairbreadth away from my ear.

“Kace,” she whispered. “I need you to show me what making love really feels like. Take the demands away and help me feel alive.” The desperation but also conviction in her voice was bold and strong.

“Baby, you’re reeling from the events of the evening and—”

My rational thinking abruptly ended when she pushed back on my shoulders and she placed a finger over my lips, shaking her head side to side.

“That isn’t the only reason I want you Kace. I know in my heart you are and will only ever be the one I want to touch me the way I am asking you to right now.” She removed her finger from my mouth and slid her hand down my chest, placing it above my heart. “Let your heart do the talking and don’t think.”

My heart was without a doubt involved when it came to her, but I was pretty sure it was my body that was doing the thinking as she rubbed her bare lady parts against my jean-covered cock which was getting more aroused by the second causing it to bulge against the front of my pants wanting to be freed.

Her lips slammed over mine and her fingers slid into my wet hair. I was defenseless against her assault against my mouth, our tongues invested in a war of tonsil hockey that was now my new favorite game.

She yanked her mouth free, both of us breathless and her heat-filled eyes peered into mine, undeniable desire beaming in their depths. “You’re wearing entirely too many clothes.”
