“I hate that look that just passed through your beautiful eyes.”

Standing in our bedroom, the one we had been sharing for weeks now, Kace stepped closer and wrapped his strong arms around me. He pulled me into his muscular chest and sighed deeply.

“As much as I don’t want you to worry, I also don’t want you to let your guard down. Nothing can happen to you. I won’t let it.”

There was no doubt in my mind that this tall, muscled, strong man with a heart of gold would do whatever it took to keep me safe.

“How can it, when I have Superman for a boyfriend?” After the words left my mouth I wasn’t sure if I should have said them.

We basically lived together, took care of my son together, and had amazing sex together. We’d even said, ‘I love you”, but we had never labeled our relationship and I wasn’t sure how he would react, nor did I want to assume.

I shouldn’t have been surprised or worried about his response.

“Are we going steady now?” Kace pulled back, a playful twinkle in his eyes. “Is this where I give you my letterman jacket to wear?”

I giggled. “Stop teasing me you goof.”

“Maybe I should just jump to you wearing my ring on your finger and seal the deal?”

My eyes went wide and I froze.

He chuckled, a sound I loved, and goosebumps broke out all over my skin. What exactly was he saying?

“Kace,” I whispered.

He gave me a dazzling smile. “It won’t be long, Little Momma. Now before you start panicking, what do you say we rent a movie and stay in?” he asked with a hopeful tone.

That pulled me out of my statue form and I shook my head no. “You’re taking me dancing. Now I need to go get ready before Denver wakes up from his nap.”

I started to pull away to go, but he stopped me and swept me up, one arm under my knees and the other at my back. I was cradled against his chest snugly and my heart started to race with a rush of desire that only ever existed when Kace was near.

“What are you doing?”

“Showering, Sweetheart. What kind of Superman would I be if I didn’t carry you in there and wash your sexy little body?”

A burst of laughter flew free. “We’re supposed to be getting ready to go,” I attempted to say as if fooling around wasn’t in the cards. But my tone said otherwise.

He started toward the bathroom. “We will be getting ready and showering together will save time.”

“Babe, I’ve showered with you. It does not save time.” I knew this and yet I was still waning, knowing exactly how amazing a shower with him could be.

“Well, that’s because I love to worship your body. A few minutes late won’t matter,” he said with a wink as I gazed up into his warm, whiskey brown eyes.

“As long as you let me worship you too,” I told him seductively.

Kace’s eyes filled with heat and approval. He liked the idea that was clear as day.

Setting me down gently, my bare feet hit the cool tile floor. Facing each other he brushed a lock of hair from my forehead that had fallen into my eyes.

“I lied,” he stated.

At first, I was alarmed. I didn’t like people lying and he told me he wouldn’t ever do that. But then another smile broke across his face. A devastatingly handsome one that had my nipples puckering tight against my shirt and my knees going weak with need.

“Lied?”

“Yeah, baby. We are definitely going to be later than I thought.”
