And maybe Teal had a point about a hot guy?

Shit, no I couldn’t go there.

Then all the kids and guys walked back in, and my eyes immediately landed on Rowan. He had always been an extremely good-looking boy, but all grown up, he was a sexy, lethal man.

God, it was getting harder not to cave and throw myself at him.

Rowan’s eyes met mine and he gave me a knowing smile. I felt my face flush with heat.

“See what I mean,” Teal said, nudging my shoulder.

“You are trouble,” I told her.

“Well, that title,Queen of Trouble, is reserved for Alley, but I am happy to be of assistance,” she said.

“Heard that!” Alley yelled.

“We maybe should call herBionic Ears,”I said, laughing.

“I told you, superpowers!” Alley shouted.

I was about to add loudmouth to the mix but was interrupted as a tingle raced up my spine and goosebumps broke out along my arms from the deep voice that sounded from behind me.

“Need some help?” Rowan asked, placing his warm palm in the center of my back.

I shivered at his touch and this time it was Teal who gave me a knowing smile.

“You bet she does,” Teal said and walked off.

I turned around and lost Rowan’s touch immediately as his hand dropped away. My eyes went to his lips and all I could think about was what Teal had said about a hot guy being able to take one's mind off things. I licked my lower lip wondering what his mouth would feel like against mine.

Glancing further up to find his gaze, I found him staring at the path my tongue had just taken and a low growl rumbled from deep inside him. I let out a little squeak of surprise at his reaction, and I squeezed my thighs together to curb the tingling sensation the sound ignited in my lady parts.

It was not the time or place. If there was ever one, it certainly wasn’t our son’s party. And I couldn’t believe I even contemplated it.

I was pretty damn sure there could be more than oneQueen of Troublein our group because Teal was for sure a runner-up in my book and pushing for the head spot.

“We better clean up,” I announced and ran off.

Rowan chuckled as I walked away and the sound sent another shockwave of desire straight to my core.

I had to occupy my mind before I threw caution to the wind and kissed him right there in the middle of the room with everyone watching.

That would be bad.

Wouldn’t it?

“Wake up, sleepyhead.”

I felt someone touch my arm gently and give me a slight shake.

My lids came open and I was staring into a pair of eyes the color of dark obsidian, the outer edges lighter and more transparent, holding a ray of emotion. Some may have thought Rowan’s eyes were scary, but I thought they were beautiful. His eyes were like a mood ring, darkening and lightening with his moods.

They were mesmerizing and hypnotic. And I was so lost in them I hadn’t heard a word he’d said.

“What?” I asked.
