“Not again.”

I thought that came from Dexter but wasn’t unlocking my lips from my soon-to-be-husband to double check.

Then I heard Embry say, “This always happens. All of them like to kiss, but one day I will too when I get married.”

More laughter rang out when her father, Braxton told her, “That will not be until you're thirty, young lady.”

And since I knew Embry was always saying she was going to marry Dexter, I knew it was him that commented next.

“Thank gosh.”

Nobody could hold it together. They laughed so hard they were in stitches.

All of this went on as we stayed in our lip lock. When Zander wrapped his little arms around us, we finally broke apart, and Rowan scooped him up into his arms.

“Hang on to me little man, there is something I have to do,” he told Zander.

With our son hanging onto him like a monkey, he grabbed my left hand and slid the most perfect ring onto my finger.

“When’s the wedding?” Kace called out.

Gyth smacked him upside the head. “Shut up, knucklehead, he just asked her.”

I didn’t care if he’d just asked me or not. I couldn’t wait.

“As soon as possible,” I told everyone.

Rowan gave me a sexy smirk. “Name your place and time, sweetheart, and I’ll make you my wife.”

Another round of cheers went up around the room.

“Is tomorrow too soon?” I whispered to Rowan. “I’ve been waiting all my life for you.”

He laid his palm on the side of my face and caressed it softly. “Anything you want, Buttercup.”

I was only half kidding and teasing him, but I’d marry him in a heartbeat. I’d been scared for nothing. Rowan wasn’t going anywhere.

We had the rest of our lives.

ROWAN

She said yes.

The fabulous fucking sex as I took Brinley in her office earlier not only helped her but me too. We’d been talking like there was a future for us, but I still worried she would decide that saying yes to my proposal was risky after I’d left before.

I’d contemplated whether to pop the question in front of everyone, but it truly had been great having them all there to witness one of the best days of my life.

With our son spending the night at Dexter’s and after getting everything cleaned up, the two of us headed home to celebrate.

She had said our earlier lovemaking would hold her over until after the opening and since it was over, I was ready to take my future wife to bed.

Little did I know, when we walked out of the bookstore life had other plans for us.

And they weren’t good at all.
