Marina’s face pales. “What do I do when I get there?”

This is what I feared. Marina is terrified of going back to that place.

“How is that a good idea?” I ask. “What if she has a panic attack or worse? Wouldn’t that compromise the whole mission?”

“I have a history of panic attacks,” Marina admits, parroting what I just said.

“That’s as much of my vision as I can offer,” Reese says, appearing remorseful. “Giving too much away puts you all at greater risk. From here, you must choose your path.”

Marina and I share a look of concern, but neither one of us says a word. It remains quiet in the room as every woman present is lost in her own thoughts. It’s Marina who finally breaks the silence.

“My greatest concern is for the human women being auctioned. They’ll be frightened, and I don’t want them to be innocent casualties.”

“Then you’ll stay with me,” Katina asserts. “I’ll be going after Ratilda, who will be on the stage. I’ll keep her preoccupied while you and Maggie usher the girls to safety.”

“How do we do that?” I direct to Marina.

She appears to be contemplating this. “I don’t remember too much from the auction since I was too frightened, but I do know at the side of the raised platform is a hallway. We need to figure out if there are exits anywhere toward the back.”

“Is there any way that we can get a map of the location?” I ask everyone in the room.

“I’ll see what I can do,” Addy says. “Let me get on that. I’ll meet up with you later.” Addy stands and makes her way toward the door.

“I’ll join her, since my part here is done,” Reese says, standing as well. “Stay strong, Marina. I know you’ve got your work cut out for you in dealing with Julian, but know it’s for the greater good,” Reese offers, before disappearing around the corner and out of sight.

Katina, Marina, and I are left to work out the rest of the details.

We have our work cut out for us.
