Benedetto heaves me into his arms. "Let's go, angel. We can discuss this outside. The Antonovs will bomb this warehouse to shit any minute."

I let Benedetto carry me and my bucket of evidence outside. More memories surge through my mind, cratering in like asteroids. I picture my Dad’s firm hand shaking mine as he leads me around the US Capitol building.

I can’t believe I forgot my family. None of it makes sense, except for that needle I saw.

Now, I remember losing my mind at the start of every month when they injected me with the so-called HIV preventative.

I’d regain my memory, then lose it again at the next month’s injection.

I count down the days since I escaped the warehouse.

Forty-four.

I should’ve regained my memories fifteen days ago, but I didn’t.

Perhaps I have too much of the medication built up in my system.

"Let's go, Daddy." I wrap my arms around Benedetto’s neck, then burrow into his flesh. "Take me to safety."

We hurry outside.

NIKOLAI ANTONOV

"All clear?"

I watch Benedetto and his boy run out of the warehouse toward a safer spot. Our chopper hovers low over a nondescript parking lot in Yonkers, ready to strike.

It's so sweet. Benedetto's family didn't think he'd find love, but he did. Of course, it fucking sucks that his boy went through so much goddamn darkness.

If anyone took my sweet Christian from me and forced him into sex trafficking, I’d go apeshit. I know some sick motherfuckers tried to take Macon from Aleksei, but I wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Demetri smirks. "Do I get to blow shit up now?"

"Not yet."

Demetri is so trigger-happy. I recall the time he blew up a Colombian drug lord's compound in Cartagena like it was yesterday.

"Come on." Demetri's finger twitches over the red button. "I want to see this building burst into flames."

Ugh, this is why I retired from the business to be with Christian. I gave up the Mafia lifestyle and focused on being a wonderful Daddy. But when duty called, I headed back. Friends of my family—the Ferraris—needed my assistance and I wasn't prepared to let them down.

"Now?" Demetri taps his foot in impatience.

"They're making sure no one else is there." I pinch the bridge of my nose. "We need to institutionalize you. You're a lunatic."

"You're such a spoilsport. I haven't blown anything up in months."

That's when my phone buzzes in my pocket. I whip it out and read the encrypted text.

Benedetto:All clear

I nod. "Now."

Demetri cackles. "That's what the fuck I'm talking about."

He presses the button.
