He replaces his tongue with two fingers, thrusting into me a few times before adding a third, making me moan at the sensation of being stretched by him.

“I adore that sound,” he murmurs, crawling over me once more and sealing his lips over mine as he continues fucking me with his fingers. “I adore you.” The words are a whisper against my lips and they make my chest tighten.

I pull him closer, reaching between us to pull his erection free, moving my hand up and down the thick shaft. “I want you inside me,” I say, rubbing the blunt head of his cock with my thumb.

He groans, closing his eyes for a moment before opening them and meeting my gaze. “I wanted to take this slow. Enjoy every bit of you.”

“But I’m impatient,” I say with a little grin.

His eyes glimmer, and he mirrors my grin, slipping his fingers out of my pussy. “As you wish, angel.”

I guide his cock to my entrance, licking the dryness from my lips as he drags it along my slit, coating himself in my juices before pressing the head against my clit. I press my lips together to keep from moaning too loudly, and Gabriel moves to hover over me, positioning himself without haste. I run my hands up his chest and lace my fingers at the back of his neck, pulling his lips to mine to kiss him deeply.

Between one moment and the next, Gabriel pushes inside slowly, stretching me to accommodate him, his breathing almost as ragged as my own. He rests his forehead against mine. “Is this okay?”

My heart pounds against my ribcage as my fingers grip the back of his hair, and I lean back just enough to meet his gaze. “I want all of you.”

“You have all of me, angel.” He thrusts harder, hitting a new spot deep inside me that sets off sparks of pleasure.

“Yes,” I breathe, my entire body radiating heat. “Right there.”

His hips slam into mine, over and over, until we’re both racing toward climax. My breasts bounce with each thrust and sweat dots my brow. My muscles tense, and in the space of a heartbeat, my pussy clenches deliciously around him. I cry out, my release slamming into me like an unforgiving wave as I continue lifting my hips to meet his thrusts.

They become quicker, his hips jerking as he pumps into me. Moments later, he grunts, squeezing his eyes shut as he releases inside me. His thrusts slow, and he collapses on top of me, his cock still filling me up. With a content sigh, he pulls out and presses a gentle kiss to my lips. He wraps his arms around me, holding me against his side and pulling the covers over our legs. I listen to the steady beat of his heart and fight the urge to close my eyes and cling to this moment.

“I… I can’t say goodbye to you,” I finally tell him.

Gabriel tucks my hair behind my ear, leaning down to brush his lips against mine. “You don’t have to.” He kisses me again. “This isn’t permanent. Once we figure out how Selene is tied to the hunters, we can eliminate her. Doing that before we know wouldn’t be smart, but I promise you, as soon as we know it won’t tip anyone off, Selene will very quickly no longer be a problem.”

I frown at him. “If I’d overheard more when she was talking to Scott—”

“Stop,” he interrupts with a gentle voice. “You have absolutely no blame in this, angel. I can’t stand the thought of you believing that.”

Exhaling a shaky breath, I meet his soft gaze. “She wants you back because she’s desperate for power and worried about her enemies, one of which being the hunters she’s somehow in cahoots with. Nothing makes sense, but something about this has her scared. She’s acting out of selfishness and fear, so please—I understand you know her better than anyone—but be careful. Fear makes people go to extremes.”

He pushes his fingers into my hair, leaning in to kiss my forehead. “I will,” he vows. “You can’t get rid of me that easily.”

I’m not sure how long we stay there, our limbs tangled with each other’s, but eventually we have to move.

I slip out from the sheets first, grabbing my clothes off the floor and tugging them back on. Gabriel watches my every move, his cheeks tinged pink and his eyes filled with something that makes my chest tighten. He gets up and finds his clothes as well, kissing me slowly before we walk hand-in-hand to the door.

He squeezes my hand. “Calla—”

“I’m not going to watch you go,” I cut him off, unable to meet his gaze. If I’m there, the rest of the guys will have to hold me back to stop me from stoppinghim.

“Okay.” His voice is calm, gentle.

The grip around my heart tightens, and I reach for him, lifting onto my tiptoes and smashing my lips against his, hard and fast, before I pull back and open the door. Stepping into the hallway, I pause as if I’m going to say something else—I feel as if I should, but nothing comes.

I swallow hard past the lump in my throat and let the door to Gabriel’s room click shut behind me. Tears blur my vision as I hurry down the hallway to the stairs. I manage to hold them back until I’m behind the door to my bedroom, but the moment I fall back against it, I crack, pressing a fist to my mouth to muffle the sound of my sobs.

Gabriel

The ride to the address Selene sent feels like the longest half hour of my many years. My pulse is erratic and my stomach is filled with nerves. I managed to keep it together as the guys walked me to the front door, but now that I’m alone—save for the town car driver behind the wheel—fear has dug its claws in me deep. Nausea fills my gut, and several times, I have to clench my jaw and debate telling the driver to pull over so I can vomit outside his car. I manage to swallow down the bile in my throat and try to focus on the quiet jazz music filtering through the car or the humans rushing to get home from work to their families. Thinking ahead, I called out sick to work before I left the house, not knowing how long this arrangement is going to last. I figure my flu excuse is good for at least a week.

Despite the unseasonably warm weather, the driver seems to have the heat on nearly full blast, making the churning in my stomach worse. I grit my teeth, finally flicking the window switch to crack it open enough to get some air. The driver either doesn’t notice or doesn’t care. He keeps his eyes on the road, humming along to the music.
