“That a girl,” Lex murmurs, slowing his thrusts, but continues moving inside me as I come down from my euphoric high. “Catch your breath, because I’m not done with you yet.”

That sparks something in me, and I lift my hips to urge him on. Evidently, I’m not done with him either.

His thrusts become fast and hard, until he pulls out completely and flips me over. “Wrap your arms around the chair,” he orders, spreading my legs as I move to obey him. He takes me from behind, making my pussy clench around him, and I gasp when hits even deeper inside me at this angle.

“Lex,” I breathe, and I’m not sure if it’s a prayer or a curse at this point.

He pounds into me, breathing harder. “Hold on.”

My entire world narrows on the sensations flooding through me, and everything comes crashing down at once. I cry out with my third release, and Lex grunts, stiffening inside me as his own climax reaches a crescendo. He pulls out and we end up curled against one another, our labored breathing filling the small room with heat and the smell of sex.

Lex rests his forehead against mine, brushing his fingers along my cheek. “You good?” he checks.

I only nod, because I’m not sure my voice will work at this point. I softly trace the outline of his new bandage with my finger before meeting his gaze.

He licks his lips, then grins at me. “That is officially my favorite tattoo.”

When we return to the house, I slip away to my bathroom and start filling the soaker tub with water. I need something to clear my head, and a hot bath filled with oils and bubbles seems like the perfect fix. I’m still going to talk to Gabriel, but I need some time to myself first.

I get undressed, dropping my clothes on the marble floor, then step into the tub and ease myself into the soapy, spearmint and eucalyptus scented water.

The room is hazy with steam, and I sigh, closing my eyes and leaning my head back against the plush cushion. My core aches from the extra time Lex and I spent at the tattoo shop, but it’s a pleasant ache. One of satisfaction and one I very much want to experience again.

It’s only once I’ve completely relaxed, the tension literally melting out of my body, that the thought smacks me in the face.

I don’t really hate it here.

As much as I should—as much as Iwantto, I don’t. I can’t pinpoint when it happened, but I don’t have the immediate urge to attempt an escape the moment I’m alone. I’ve only been here four days, so that’s a little—or a lot—embarrassing, but maybe it’s the part of me that knows it’s useless to run. They’ll find me and drag me back here and it will all be for nothing.

I guess I should be grateful they’re allowing me some semblance of normal in letting me continue to go to class, even after what happened with Brighton this morning.

Now, I just need to find outwhy. There are so many whys, and the more I think about it and try to figure them out, the more my head spins and pounds with tension.

“Calla?” Gabriel’s voice floats in from the bedroom, and my body flushes with heat. It could be from the temperature of the water, but the safer bet would be that it’s what Gabriel’s voice does to me.

“In here,” I call without thinking, pressing my lips together. Oddly enough, I’m not nervous about him seeing me naked.

He steps into the room and his eyes immediately find me. “That looks relaxing.” His gaze trails along the length of my soapy body as he wets his lips. Evidently, he’s not concerned about subtlety.

I close my eyes, feeling warmer under his gaze. “Hmm, it is really nice.”

His shoes make little sound as he walks closer, and I open my eyes, turning my head just as he kneels at the side of the tub. The sight has me biting my lip as his eyes flick between mine.

“Did—” I clear my throat. “Did you need something?”

The corner of his mouth lifts and he hooks his finger under my chin, tilting my head up a little. “Seeing you like this is exactly what I need.”

I lift my hand out of the water and run it up his chest until I reach his neck, where I curl my fingers and pull him closer. “Kiss me?” I whisper.

His mouth covers mine in an instant, soft but hungry. Our lips battle for control, and I tug at the hair at the back of his neck as one of his hands grips the side of the tub and the other slips under the water. I gasp into his mouth when he pinches my nipple, and he chuckles softly.

I pull back a little, trailing my lips along his jaw. “I’m sorry you were upset before dinner,” I murmur, kissing the corner of his mouth. “You can talk to me, you know.”

His fingers slide down my chest, and my breath hitches when he reaches my navel. “You’re sweet,” he says in a soft voice. “I don’t need to burden you with these things.”

“I know that,” I assure him, “but you can, is what I’m saying.”
