Malcolm was maybe 5’11, with a dark complexion and a shaved head. He was bent over his desk, looking at some paperwork.

I knocked on the door frame, “Malcolm, this is the new employee I was telling you about.”

Malcolm smiled and dropped the pen he was holding and stood, making his way over to us.

“I’m Malcolm Johnson, the general manager,” he offered his hand to her. She shook his hand, his so large it swallowed hers up.

“Ivy Walsh,” she replied and gave him a small smile.

“I’ll leave you to it. One last thing Ivy,” I say and she turned to me expectantly. “Once Malcolm gets you sorted. I’m taking you somewhere.” I don’t wait for her denial. I walk down the hall. She doesn’t utter a word to me, but I know she was cussing me out in her head. I chuckled and felt lighter for the first time in days.

Chapter 9

Bridget Ivy

The kiss was minty as if he’d just chewed up a peppermint. The self-satisfying smirk he gave me after he moved back told me he was pleased with himself. I knew Loki asked forgiveness instead of permission. He was a cocky asshole, which was abundantly clear from the way he swaggered in and out of the room, and the fact I was just supposed to be flattered he wanted to take me somewhere. One thing was for sure, he needed someone to call him on his bullshit.

As I was finishing up with Malcolm, who’d just handed me a uniform. Taz came through the door.

“Hey Ivy, it’s good to see you.”

“You too,” I said, taking in his appearance. His hair disheveled, and he seemed out of breath.

“I’ll show her around Malcolm,” Taz said.

I thanked Malcolm for his time and followed Taz out of the office. The place had a sleek, modern design and was decorated in varying hues of red and black, with all the rooms named after something in Norse mythology.

He paused. “Malcolm is in charge of your schedule. I’m sure he told you all about it, right?”

“Yes, he did. Is everything okay? You seem distracted?”

“Ah, yeah, I’m fine. Do you have questions?”

“A couple, can you show me the playroom?” I asked, but before I could ask another, Taz was frowning.

“You want to see Hel?”

“Yeah, call me curious!” I winked at him.

I could see the hesitation in his eyes, but before he could answer, another guy in a cut showed up, “Taz, we gotta bounce.”

Taz looked at me sheepishly and said, “Sorry, I’ll see you around.”

I watched as both guys hurried away. After about 15 minutes, and no Loki, I wandered around the place on my own. Recognizing the hallway to where Taz took me the first time I was here, I began strolling down the quiet corridor. The Valkyrie room was on the right and the only illumination was along the back wall, which gave the room a dim glow. The stage also had a light coming directly down the pole. There was a glow from a slit on the floor to the right of the stage, which I realized must be a dressing room. I kept walking and found the Bifrost Bar. At the end of the hallway there was a door, but it had a scanner on it. Malcolm never mentioned a badge, so I assumed this section was off limits.

“Hey there, can I help you with something?” a female voice sounded behind me.

I turned around to see a petite girl who was shorter than me with platinum blond hair cut in a bob. Smiling, I said, “oh hi. I’m Ivy. I start work in a few days, and I guess I got a little turned around.”

As I got closer, I noticed she was older than I’d originally thought with heavy make-up. She was wearing a robe with sleepers on her feet.

“Oh, sure Hun. I understand this place is big. I’m Renee.”

“It's nice to meet you,” I smiled, relieved to see such kindness in her eyes.

“Have you ever thought about dancing?” she asked me and it took me off guard.

“Um, no, should I?” I asked curiously.
