He grabbed her hands and held them up over her head as he began to establish a steady, hard rhythm that rocked her. Utterly. Mercilessly.

She looked up into his eyes, looked right at his face. The lights were on. And she wouldn’t let herself forget. As if she could have.

She was with Kit. Kit.

And then, it was like everything around her was fire, and so was she.

Her climax ripped through her. Her need overcoming her as she cried out his name. As she felt wave after wave of desire pulsing through her.

And then he growled her name on his lips as he shuddered and shook. And if there was one thing that was better than finding her own release in Kit’s arms, it was watching him find it in hers.

This man, the object of her darkest and most shameful fantasies, was surrendering to her.

To them. To this.

It was everything. He was everything.

And they were something else entirely.

And when it was over, she lay there, sweat-slicked, her heart pounding so hard she thought it was going to escape her chest.

“Oh, well,” she said.

Because it was all she could say. They weren’t wrong. They weren’t exaggerating, those movies. You could lose yourself, lose your head. End up screaming and not care who heard you.

It was a revelation.

One she had always been a little bit afraid she could only ever have with him.

And there it was.

“Good for you?”

“Extremely,” she said.

They lay there, and she looked at him, at his body.

And she was sad. Because she could’ve... Well, she could want this for a long time. She could want this forever.

That made something like an alarm bell go off inside her. She wasn’t supposed to be thinking things like that. Wasn’t supposed to be thinking in those terms. Because there was no point to it. None at all. They both knew what it was. “Thank you,” she said. “But I really should get back. Because...”

“I know. Same reason I should.”

“You know that this can’t...”

“I think we both know exactly what this was. That’s why we didn’t talk about it beforehand, right?”

She nodded. “Yeah. So... I’ll see you at the wedding tomorrow.”

He nodded slowly. “Yeah. See you at the wedding.”
