He holds his hands up. “I think this should stay strictly between you two.”

I give him a look. “I need one fucking ally, Enzo.”

“She must really be something, this girl you’ve only known a short time and has already got you by the short ones.”

“I said it to Angelo last night, she’s different from the rest of them.” I glance at him in all seriousness. “What would you do in this scenario?”

His phone buzzes again as he glances down at it but doesn’t check the message. His eyes flick back to mine momentarily. “For the right woman, Marco, what wouldn't I do?”

“Touché, my friend, touché.”

An hour later, I stare at the high gates and then turn to the camera.

“I need to talk to Aleksi,” I say. “Please, I just need a few minutes of his time.”

No response.

I know they see me in their fucking ivory tower.

I need to talk to Katiya, but I figured that’s not going to happen.

What the fuck I’d say to Aleksi Petrov, I don’t know, but I have to try.

My patience wanes quickly. “Katiya!” I yell, kicking the gate as I rattle it. “Katiya!”

The house is too far from the gates for her to hear, but on the off chance that she’s at her window, I want her to see that I’m here. I’ll fight for her.

I’ll go against them all if that’s what it takes.

My sassy Russian princess.

My phone rings in my back pocket, and my chest constricts. I’m disappointed when I see it’s Rocco.

I stab my phone angrily. “What?” I bark.

“Marco, we’ve got a fucking problem.”

I run a hand through my hair as I step away from the gate.

“Shoot.”

“The hacker,” he says. “The one Vaughn said we’re tracking down on Monday.”

“Yes, what about it?”

“The dynamics have just shifted.”

“Rocco, you’re talking in riddles, for fucks sake get on with it.”

“You need to get here.”

I sigh. “You can't handle this by yourself, bro?”

“That’s just it, she’s barely of legal age.”

I frown. “What the fuck? Are you sure?”

“Yep, and it gets better.”
