“What favor did you need?”she asked.

“You know what? I forget. If I remember, I’ll message you back,”I lied.

“Okay, no dramas. Me and Imogen are about to devour everything in the closest ice cream shop.”

I paused, surprised. That was easier than I thought. Poppy is off her game, because normally she would have drilled me.

I called Pierre and told him to get me front row and backstage tickets for Keith Urban’s concert tomorrow night, then sent Kellan a text that I needed to do a little shopping when I landed. At some point I dozed off, until the crackle of the intercom woke me up.

“Thanks, I’m up. I’m hitting the shower, then I’ll come teach you how to land this thing,” I said, acting like I was the best pilot.

“Come on up when you’re ready, sir,” the pilot responded. “Pretty soon, you won’t need me.”

“I’ll always need you. By the way, I want to fly back in the morning, leaving around three. Then, fly to Rome for a concert that starts at 7,” I blew through the instructions. “Please clear both flights for takeoff, and make sure you have extra pilots so you can get some rest.”

“You got it, sir,” he answered, then clicked off.

I showered, then went to join in the cockpit. I jumped in behind the controls to land with the pilot’s help. I was only ten hours from getting my pilot’s license. Of course, I had no plan to fly my own planes. I just wanted to know how to, if needed. Once we landed and I was in the limo, I dialed my mother’s number.

“Hey Mom, sorry, I was sleeping when you messaged me,” I said smoothly. “What can I do for you now?”

“August, your brother is being rather evasive with wedding details, yet I keep seeing him looking all in love in the tabloids,” Mom complained. “Have they actually fallen for each other?”

“I don’t know about how she feels, but Asher has fallen in love with her. Isn’t that what you wanted? Have the stocks straightened themselves out, not to mention the other business emergencies?”

“It’s starting to look favorable, but we need to get this wedding taken care of,” Mom said sternly. “I think they should get married in Paris right away. Can you help me take care of that?”

“Mom, I don’t think you should rush things. Let the tabloids chase them around a bit more. Hey, I have to go.” I panicked, then sent Asher a text.

“Ash, Mom is texting me. She wants you to get married right away in Paris. Are youready to get yourself there yet?”I texted Asher.

“No way, you promised after Valentine’s Day,”Asher argued.

“You need to text her, then, and tell her you’re taking Imogen to Rome for a few days, then you’ll text her about setting something up.”

“And if she says no?”Asher asked.

“Tell her Imogen needs more time and she wants her parents at her wedding,”I said.

“Alright. Am I going to Rome, as in are you?”Asher asked with an upside-down smile face bitmoji.

“Yeah, you’re taking her to see Keith Urban, then coming back the next evening,”I texted back.

“Nice one. I like this new August. See, I knew you could have fun if you tried,”Asher said.

“Gotta go, but text her now.”

I leaned back with a deep breath. I needed to text Mom.

“Hey Mom, sorry, I got a business call.”

“It’s fine, August. I trust you. How are you feeling about Imogen?”Mom sounded suspicious.

“What have I got to do with anything? She’s a nice girl. End of story.”I lied again.

“I could have sworn that was you in a few of those pictures with Imogen. Is Asher not doing what I told him to do?”Mom asked, not really needing me to answer.

“Yeah, I was with them. Asher was just lagging behind and they got me mixed up with him, that’s all,”I texted back.
