“Yeah, I saw it too. Couldn’t you have hidden? How did they find you anyways?”

“I was sleeping and never knew they were up there.”

“You mean you were passed-out drunk. Otherwise, you would have heard the helicopter. I know you’re a light sleeper, Ash.”

“Fine, I was passed-out drunk. I still have no idea how they found me,”Asher answered back.

“What did you tell Mom?”

“That the girl in the bikini was Imogen and that we had slipped away for a couple of days.”

“You should have texted me, Ash. Mom thinks you were in China with me and Kellan while the girls were wedding dress shopping in Paris.”

“I’m sorry. She caught me off-guard and I reacted.”

“It was a text, Ash. You had time to think it out and message me. She probably knows something is up.” I said.

“What do you want me to do, August?”

“Come to Paris and switch, I suppose. That was the plan.”

“We made a deal it would be after Valentine’s Day.”

“Ash, you gotta be kidding me. You do know Mom knows what island Sawyer bought.”

“How would she know? He just bought it,”Asher argued back.

“Mom knows everything. I’m surprised she hasn’t figured it out before now.”

“She has never been able to tell us apart. Hence, all our switching. I doubt she has now.”

“Ash, that might be true in looks, but she knows our personalities. I have never liked the beach. She won’t buy that it was me.”

“Maybe she’ll believe this girl convincedyou and you’re doing your best to comply.”

“Nice try. She also knows you well enough to know you don’t comply easily. I gotta go. We’re in-flight and ‘this girl’ named Imogen is upset about the reporters.”

“You like this…Imogen, don’t you?”Asher asked.

“Yeah, I do. She’s not your type, and honestly, I don’t want to give her to you.”

“So don’t. You took care of the problem, my problem, better than I would have. Mom will get off my back and Imogen can keep you.”

“I need to think. I’ll text when we land tomorrow, but you’re going to need to come to Paris.”

“Get some rest, August. Tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day, then I’ll be there as promised.”

I put my cell back in my pocket. Imogen had reclined her chair and fallen asleep. I unbuckled my seatbelt and went to the cockpit to get in a little bit of flight time. I figured maybe it would distract me from my racing thoughts.

How am I going to get Asher and myself out of this mess of his. How am I going to convince her to not hate me when I tell her?

Chapter 67

IMOGEN

Iwoke an hour later to a quiet plane. Asher had left me a note that he was in the cockpit and that I should get some sleep in the bed. I wanted to talk more than I wanted to sleep, so I went in search of him. I knocked on the cockpit door out of politeness.

“Come on in, Imogen,” the pilot yelled out. “We were just talking about you getting to meet Keith Urban.”
