“Did you say they were busylookingat brides? I’m confused.”
“Shoot, I wasn’t supposed to say anything. Forget the last five minutes.” Asher looked around as if to see if someone was listening. “Seriously, I never said anything.”
“You got it. Would it be the scary mother we’re talking about again?” I joked.
“No, my cousin. Well, my mother too. Maybe my mother more, actually,” Asher mumbled. “Sorry, I’m saying too much. Tell me something about you.”
“Oh no, this is way too entertaining.” I laughed and sat on the edge of my boat. “What happens out here on this island? There, is that better?”
“There ya go. We fish and swim.” Asher scrunched up his face thinking. “We play volleyball and jet ski.”
“Sounds like a fun time. Are you guys out here all the time?” I asked. “I haven’t seen the big yacht at the marina before now.”
“Oh yeah, we used to come on my yacht, but Sawyer bought that bigger yacht, so we brought it this time.” Asher pointed to the other dock with Sawyer’s yacht. “I told him it was too big. You really need a boat you can take anywhere.”
“Oh, that explains why they hired me to bring people back and forth,” I nodded. “Why doesn’t he just buy a smaller boat to keep at the island?”
“That’s actually a great idea, I’ll tell him. Or, you could just let him pay you to go back and forth,” Asher suggested. “I think I’d rather see you every day than some guy.”
“As much as I appreciate the compliment, it still seems like a waste of money,” I said.
“It’s just money, not the end of the world.” Asher looked back toward the patio. “Do any of them look like they care anything about spending money?”
“Not right at the moment, but then they’re on a private island relaxing. No one thinks about money laying on a beautiful beach.” I looked over to the small group now watching us.
“I promise you, no one over there ever worries about money. So, what do you think? You wanna come in and have a drink now?” Asher shared a cocky smile.
I stared at him for a few seconds, trying to say something nice. “No thanks, and I really need to get back to my paperwork. Thanks for the offer.”
“Now you’re mad at me. What did I say?” Asher smiled ear to ear. “I always say something wrong, but rarely mean it like it sounds.”
“You’re a piece of work, Asher. Do you always just say whatever is on your mind at the moment?” I asked. “Not to mention, do you always have this extravagant attitude?”
“Believe it or not, that’s not the first time I’ve been called apiece of work.” Asher laughed. “Although, it might be the nicest way I’ve heard it.”
“Nothing bothers you, does it?” I stood on the deck of my boat now. “Maybe it’s atoo much moneything.”
“I do have a lot of that, so, what could possibly bother me?” He looked right at me, confused. “Wouldn’t you be not bothered about things if you had all the money you needed?”

Sawyer
“Did you just ask if I placed the order?” Aunt Victoria chuckled. “This will be very interesting if that’s how you think this works.”
“It’s a mail-order bride company, right?” I shrugged. “I assumed we place an order.”
“I can’t argue with that. Sienna, did youplace the order?” Aunt Victoria mocked as Sienna approached the table.
“I’ve emailed each of the girls to let them know they’ve been chosen for this.” Sienna closed the laptop. “Now, we wait to see if they are interested in this little adventure you have planned.”
“We still need to figure out about paying them for their time if they don’t get chosen,” I said. “I really would feel bad if we didn’t.”
“Not to worry, your aunt and I will come up with a proper way to compensate them.” Sienna smiled. “I’ll be here to keep track of the girls and be a chaperone.”
“Chaperone? Did I miss something? They’re of age, aren’t they?” I laughed. “Then again, the chaperone is a great idea with Asher around.”
Asher was still out on the dock talking with Jade. I could see that he was clearly being his usual charming self, because Jade was laughing.
