“But how? Did you speak with Bond about it?”

“Yes, and he has agreed. Will you please be our entertainment?”

“Can I think about it?” I walked to the edge of the stage. “I mean, I would need to figure out what to do.”

“Sure. You know it doesn’t have to be a big production, just a single performance.” She joined me on the stage edge. “We can pick a popular Halloween song and you dance to it.”

“I could do that.” I paused. “I suppose I need to ask Cota first.”

“No, you don’t, Sabrina.” Murphy frowned. “He doesn’t own you. You are free now.”

“He is my husband, is he not?” I looked at her. “I should at least respect that for the time it lasts.”

“You’re right. But just decide what you want first, then talk it over with him.” She nodded. “Come on, we have some shopping to do.”

“I’m starting to like this shopping thing.”

ChapterFifty-Four

COTA

Ispent the day with Kellan, getting immersed in the dealings of the Hawthorne Hotels. I had so many ideas I wanted to share but knew better than to jump in too much just yet. Kellan was taking a chance on me without fully getting my father’s permission, but I had high hopes that my father would change his mind once he met Sabrina and heard about the island resort. It was getting to be late afternoon and I was getting excited about my plans for our date tonight.

It’s a little weird to go on a first date with your wife. I didn’t actually say it was a date.

“Kellan, I have plans tonight with Sabrina. Will we be wrapping up soon or should I reschedule?” I asked when we were alone. “I’m just asking as I don’t really know how you do things yet.”

“No big deal. We’re wrapping it up as soon as the rest of the papers are signed.” He stopped reading to look at me. “You can go. I can finish this.”

“It’s fine, I can stay until we’re done.” I looked back to the papers. “I’ve been meaning to ask you, how do you like being married?”

“I love it. Poppy is amazing.” He smiled. “Being a dad is also amazing.”

“I don’t know about that, but I’ll take your word for it.” I smiled back. “I’m looking forward to playing with your little one this weekend.”

“You have big plans tonight?”

“Yeah, kinda. I’m taking Sabrina out like grown-ups,” I laughed. “Well, grown-ups with bodyguards.”

“Eh, Bond is discreet when you need him to be.”

“I’m hoping so. Hey, what time are you heading to the manor tomorrow?” I finished reading the last page. “I thought we could head out about the same time.”

“I want to get out right after lunch. I want some time with the baby and Poppy before the whole gang arrives.”

“Good idea. I want to get there with Sabrina early so she can get comfortable beforehand.” I stood and grabbed my jacket. “I’m off to show my wife the town.”

“Be careful. You sound like you like it,” Kellan teased.

“Ya know, I kinda do.” I slapped him on the back and walked out.

I walked out of the building whistling like a silly kid. Kellan was right. I was acting like I liked it. I sent Bond a text to make sure he was ready for the night, then I sent Kellan’s pilot a text to make sure we were on time. I had a “Pretty Woman” night planned and hoped she was going to love it.

“Hey there, I’m on my way home. Are you ready for our night on the town?” I asked over the cell.

“I’ll be ready in a few minutes. Where are we going?” she asked. “Just curious to know if I’m dressed appropriately.”

“I’m sure you are. See you soon.”
