“It’s a heart with a B in it.”

“Oh, B for Bubs.” Her fingers go to work in my hair again, thankfully, since she doesn’t notice my scowl. She got the B reference right away. I’m still low in blood. “That’s so adorable. Itoldyou he was in love.”

“I got so mad at first,” I admit, “because obviously my name doesn’t start with B. I was ready to stab him in the heart and watch him bleed out when I thought B might stand for Belle. Then I reasoned it didn’t matter, because B also stood for Bitch.”

Tink snorts. “You’re a jealous fool. Even a blind man could see Jim has eyes only for you.”

“Yeah, well.” I shrug casually, though my heart beats wildly. He truly loves me. He promised he did. “So turns out B is for Bubs. I wanted to melt on the spot.”

“So why’d he hold onto it for five years? Why wait?”

I shrug again. “Dunno. Something about giving me time to be sure. I was too young, blah, blah, blah.”

Kit scoffs. “He’s an idiot.”

I snicker and finally feel that last finger of anxiety release in my stomach. “Yes, he is.”

Tink’s brows jump, which means she’s going to be gross. “So how long until your stitches are out and you can take him for a spin?”

Yep. There it is.

I throw a second pillow at her face. “You’re such a pig. And never! I’m never having sex again.”

“Are you crazy? You have James Kincaid waiting in the wings–”

“Do you wanna see my vag?” I actually use my hands to point at my crotch crudely. She’s turning me into her. “I think it’s permanently broken.”

“It’ll get better,” Tina says seriously. “That first time will hurt like a bitch. It’ll be like you’re a born-again virgin, but he’ll take care of you. Youknowhe will. Don’t be scared.”

“Yeah, well… maybe in a year or so.”

“We’ll see,” Tink teases. “Bet’s on Irish twins, anyone?”

I’ve run out of pillows to throw, so I just stick my tongue out.

Tina rolls her eyes. “Speaking of acting like children. Come on.” She taps my thigh. “I miss my daughter. Let’s go rescue her from the primitives before she starts wolf whistling and running down hoes in that game.”

Kit tugs my hair ever so gently as we stand. “Are you okay now? Did we make it better or worse?”

“Better. Thank you.”

“It’s just a hormone imbalance,” Tina reminds me. “You’ll be back to normal soon. I promise.”

“Thank you.”

“Group hug.” Tink pulls us all in tight.

“Ah!” I shove them back. “Don’t touch my fucking boobs.”

With giggles and silly smirks, like a daisy chain, Tink grabs my hand, I grab Kits, and Kit grabs Tina. As one, we head back out to the living room.

Evie remains seated exactly where Tina left her, but with pizza sauce on her face where it wasn’t half an hour ago. Lucky for Jack, they’re playing Crash Bandicoot, andnotGrand Theft Auto.

“Oh, pizza.” Zeroing in on the small coffee table, Kit grabs a slice and plops into Bobby’s lap.

I stop near Jim’s chair as he lays back with a sleeping Bean curled up on his chest. “Who brought the pizza?”

“Aiden.”

“Where’s he now?”

He rolls his eyes. “Mom called freaking out about a spider. He had to save the day.” Jim snags my hand and pulls me closer. “Hey,” he whispers. “You okay?”

“Yeah, loads. Thank you.”

“Good.” His chocolate eyes melt. He tugs me close enough that I eventually take the hint and climb into the chair with him. It’s a tight fit. The old chair groans, and my vagina squeals, but once I’m comfortable, I let out a sigh of contentment and close my eyes.

“I love you, Bubs. Forever.”

I press my lips to his chest, right beside where my baby sleeps. “Love you, too.”
