And under that barn . . .

Look away, asshole.

But it was too late. I’d seen that slender body. Her pert tits. Smooth stomach. Long legs.

My reaction was uncontrollable. There was no hiding the desire that punched at my towel.

She bent to swipe up her own towel and I got an eyeful of her perfect round ass.

If she stopped hiding under those huge dresses, she’d have enough volunteers for her causes that she’d never run out.

“Will you stop staring?” The acid tone was back.

“You first, sweetheart.”

Her eyes flashed as she clutched her towel to her body. She reached for a hanger in the closet.

I threw my clothes in the dryer and had the door halfway closed when I snatched her dress and tossed it in too.

I pushed the start button without bothering to look at the settings. The clothes were ruined.

She struggled to get past me. Then she tried to open the dryer door. And failed because I blocked it.

“If we stop drying our clothes, Earth will last—”

“Yeah, yeah. Another hundred years.”God, her shoulders are perfect. I could—shut it down, Kane.

“You should care about future generations.”

“Why? I ain’t gonna be here, and I sure as hell won’t be contributing to future generations.” I shuddered at the thought of kids. They were weird and loud and quite frankly I wondered if they were aliens that transformed into functioning humans.

“You should still care.” She lifted her chin.

Her passion for saving things was admirable. Not many people were that devoted to . . . anything. Except themselves.

“Fine. I care.” I flicked off the light switch and sauntered out of the room.

She let out a stifled scream of annoyance, and I smiled so wide my face hurt.

I was beginning to see what all the fuss was about when it came to the infamous JoJo.

CHAPTERSEVEN

JOJO

The darkof the night sky turned into the orange light of dawn.

I hadn’t slept.

For hours, I’d been sitting in this window, staring at the sea.

But it wasn’t the black of the ocean or the white caps of the waves I saw.

It was Kane.

Charging toward me through the water like a general going into battle. I’d been swept under so fast. My panic seemed to sink me no matter how I’d tried to fight. But in the chaos, I’d somehow seen him coming for me.

Then he was there.
