“But what about paying?”

“Sorted before we arrived.”

“It must be nice.”

“Many aspects of my life arenice. Just as many are challenging.”

She thought that wasn’t something he admitted readily to others, so Jenna took the confidence for the honor that it was.

Dima drove her the few blocks back to her office but stayed her with a hand on her arm before she exited the car. “What time would you like me to pick you up?”

“For dinner?” she asked. Had she agreed to that?

His gray eyes sent messages likely to make breathing difficult. “To start.”

“You are persistent.”

“It goes with the stubborn arrogance.” Charm. He had it.

And Prince Dimitri of Mirrus was fully aware of just how charming he was.

She gave him a wry look. “I’ll say.”

His smile sent tingles of arousal to places she couldn’t focus on minutes before going into a conference room filled with her colleagues.

“Don’t Emma and Konstantin expect you for dinner?” He was in town to visit his nephews, after all.

“Yes.”

“Well then.”

“Join us.” His finger brushed over the pulse on her wrist. “Emma will be disappointed if you don’t.”

“I’m being maneuvered, I think.”

He shrugged, clearly unrepentant.

“You’ll tell her you invited me, won’t you?”

“Naturally.”

Jenna shook her head, but she was smiling.

“Is that ano?”

“That’s ayou’re too muchhead shake, but I’ll be there. Emma would be hurt if she found out you had invited me and I said no.” If Jenna had had other plans, that would have been fine.

But she didn’t, and Jenna made it a practice never to lie to her friends, not even to get out of doing things she didn’t want to do. In this case, she wanted to have dinner with the charming man a little too much.

She tried not to lie at all, but sometimes finessing the truth saved a lot of hurt feelings. Especially in the fashion industry.

CHAPTER THREE

JENNACHANGEDHERoutfit for the third time and said a word she didn’t usually say. This should be no big deal. How many times had she shared a meal with Kon and Emma and their two adorable sons? Too many to count.

She had even done so when Dima was there as well. The only difference tonight was that she was arriving with him.

After spending lunch flirting.
