So why hadn’t it warned her about Dima?

That he could use her like this?

A peremptory knock sounded. “Are you coming back out?” Dima asked through the door.

It would serve him right if she didn’t and left him to sleep on the sofa.

But Jenna was not a petty person. Never had been.

She marched over to the door and unlocked it, pulling it wide to glare up at the sneaky prince. “I found your file on me.”

“You went through my things?” he asked, sounding and looking outraged.

That made her laugh. If it was more cynical than humorous, who could blame her? “Really? That’s what you’re going with?”

“There was no need. You could have asked, and I would have told you anything you wanted to know.”

“I could say the same, though now, not so much. But I didn’t go looking for answers to questions I’m not asking. I needed something to put the stuff from my purse in.”

“So you decided to confiscate my briefcase?”

“Why doesn’t it have a lock? For a family worried about security, yours is really lax.”

“Without a lock, it looks less important, and since I travel with a security detail, locking my files away is unnecessary.”

“Until you bring the wrong woman to your bed.”

“You are not the wrong woman. You would do nothing with what you found in there.”

“You’re so sure about that?”

“You know I am. I was before I searched for surveillance devices, and I’m only more so now.”

“Sure. I believe you.” She let her tone tell him she actually felt the opposite.

His gorgeous face creased in a frown. “I don’t bring other women to my home or personal suite when I’m traveling. They do not have access to sensitive information.”

“So? Am I supposed to feel special?”

“I don’t know. How you feel is up to you, but I will tell you that you are special.”

She made a disbelieving sound.

“Jenna, you are part of our family.”

“I used to think that too, but family members don’t spy on each other.”

“I was not spying on you.”

“What would you call it?”

“Trying to find out how information was passing through you to someone else.”

“Behind my back. Thatisspying.”

He walked over to the pile of files she had discarded and picked them up, then laid them on the bed in front of her. “You see these files?”

“I could hardly miss them.”
