“Usually I find your sarcasm sexy, but right now I could do with a little less of it.”

“I could do without everything that happened tonight, to be honest.” There was no sarcasm in her tone.

His grimace said he understood she’d meant every word. “I am sorry. Perhaps I should have talked to you about what Konstantin had discovered.”

“What exactly is that?”

“I will get to that in a minute. Look at those files.”

“Why?”

“Because I trust you.”

“And looking at your business files proves that, how?” she asked, curious despite herself.

“They pertain to the biggest deal I have ever put together for Mirrus Global. You can read them cover to cover. I know you won’t do anything with the information.”

Again, despite herself, Jenna was impressed. Not that she was going to admit it, but the offer would have shocked her before tonight’s events. She was more shocked now that she knew somebody was leaking information about his family.

“How did you find out someone was leaking information about the family?”

“It isn’t just about the family. It’s about Mirrus Global too.” He went on to tell her what Konstantin had put together and brought to him.

“Why didn’t he just approach me?”

“He was worried asking you would offend you and that you would vent to Nataliya and upset her.”

“And right now, any kind of stress is not a good idea for her, but how did he not realize I’m fully aware of that? I wouldn’t vent to Nataliya about anything that might upset her right now.”

This seemed to sink in. “You are right. We both made a bad call even entertaining the thought you might.”

“But not thatImight be the leak?” she demanded, angry all over again.

“The leaks always coincided with you and Nataliya visiting each other or having a video call.”

“We video call at least twice a month.” It had been hard to adjust to her BFF not being available for daily chats like they used to have, but they texted almost every day still. “That seems like a pretty long stretch to causation.”

“We were right. Someone is spying on you,” he pointed out, like that made everything okay.

And just like that, she was done. Done with this conversation. Done with tonight. She just wanted to go home and be alone. Jenna needed time to process all this.

Only she couldn’t go home, could she? “Has your team contacted you yet?”

“Yes. While you were getting dressed and ransacking my room for a handbag replacement.”

“You just keep harping on that. It will remind us both what double standards you have.”

He let out a sigh, and she stared at him in shock. She wasn’t sure she’d ever heard Dima make such ahumansound. Although she found it surprisingly easy to read his expression when others seemed to find him rather stoic, he did not express emotions with the typical sounds others made.

No surprised laughter, sighs or even grunts of annoyance from him.

He was too polished.

“I was teasing you, but clearly my timing was bad. It is not my intention to propagate a double standard.”

“You sound pretty formal for a man who was inside my body only a few hours ago.”

“As you have pointed out so many times, I am a prince.”
