She turned to him. “What?”

“Can we speak privately for a moment?”

“I don’t know. It doesn’t look like any of my conversations have been private for the past year or more.”

Dima’s head of security stepped forward. “Your office is clean.”

Genuine gratitude washed over her at that knowledge, and she let it show in her eyes. “Thank you.”

Dima gave his security guy a look and then indicated the direction of her office with his hand. “Shall we?”

Jenna nodded before leading him from the room.

They got to her office, and he shut the door behind them, then turned to face her, his expression bordering on sympathetic. “You know you cannot press charges.”

“Um...no, Ido notknow that.”

“What kind of stress do you think Nataliya will feel to find out that someone has been spying on you for a year?”

She couldn’t believe he was playing the BFF health guilt card with her. “Don’t tell her.”

“You really expect her not to find out?”

He might not believe it, no matter what he’d said earlier, but no way would Jenna even consider going through with pressing charges if she thought it could lead to unhealthy stress for her friend. “You and your brothers are resourceful. I’m sure you can keep the news from her.”

“Like anyone has ever been able to keep a secret from her. She’s a hacker.”

And a darn good one, but Nataliya was too busy with her roles as queen, wife, and mom to indulge in her love for digging out secrets unless she needed to.

“If she was monitoring me that closely, she would already know, and she would have been the one to come to me. She only researches what she needs to know, and right now she’s focused on a whole lot besides the nitty-gritty of her BFF’s life.”

“Without the threat of prosecution, that woman is not going to keep silent about any of this,” Dima said, taking another tack. “For all we know, she is already aware of Nataliya’s pregnancy, and it is not supposed to be made public for another month.”

“How well do you know your sister-in-law?” Jenna asked Dima, her tone dry.

“I would say very well.”

“Then you know that if it were left up to her, Nataliya would want Skylar prosecuted to the very extent of the law in order to protect others from being harmed. Besides, you can still threaten her with extradition and longer prison time.”

“A conviction isn’t going to stop a woman like her from doing this again,” Dima said cynically. “She’s found a way to augment her income, and she’s not giving it up just because she goes to jail for a while.”

“So I’ll sue her in civil court and bankrupt her. Besides, a convictionwillmake it a heck of a lot harder for Skylar to get a job where she has access to sensitive information. If I’d known she had a sideline selling information, I wouldn’t have let her near me or my work.”

Jenna couldn’t help feeling responsible for hiring the woman regardless. She’dlikedSkylar and had planned to mentor her career as Jenna had been mentored back in the day.

Dima gave her a grim look. “Jenna, do you remember the NDA you signed after Nataliya and my brother became engaged?”

Where was he going with this? “Of course.”

“It prevents you from pressing charges against Skylar, because to do so would require you to reveal sensitive information about my family and company.”

“I don’t have to reveal that she stole information about you all and Mirrus Global.” She would be perfectly happy to keep that out of either a criminal or civil suit.

“Any investigation would do so in its natural course, and that would put you in breach of the agreement.”

“I’m not sure a lawyer would agree.”

“By all means, consult with one.” He didn’t sound superior but resigned.
