Damn, I wanted to be like Gladys when I grew up.

“I think you’re worth everything, Gladys,” Sammy yelled out, running over to her, and wrapping his tiny arms around her waist.

“And I think you’re worth the moon and the stars, young prince.”

“Glady?” Butch called out in a subdued tone.

It was a beautiful thing I watched play out in front of me. Gladys ignored him and turned to Clint. “I’ll be back before breakfast.”

Butch looked like he was going to croak. “Wait… you’re going to be out all night?”

“Ms. Gladys, do you need one of the guys close by, just in case anything goes wrong,” Brandon asked, shoving another cookie in his mouth.

She laughed, then placed a kiss on top of Sammy’s head. “No need. I have my cell phone, and I have you and Clint on speed dial. Plus, I remember how everything works, so I’m sure it’ll be like riding a bike.”

Brandon choked on his cookie. “Holy shit.”

Clint reared back as if struck. “What the fuck?”

Butch’s face turned beet red. “Glady? What the hell are you talking about.”

Me. Well, I couldn’t help but laugh. Loudly. This woman had taught me more about how to handle a man than I’d learned in my entire life. Walking over to me, she hugged me tightly. “Despite what you just witnessed, I promise you we’re normal people. I’ll be back in the morning. If you need me, Clint has my number.”

“Yes, Ma’am,” I said cheekily. “Have fun.”

“Don’t tell her to have fun,” Butch yelled out. “I can’t believe this shit. Glady, I don’t know what’s gotten into you tonight.”

“Do you really want to hear my answer to that? Because I don’t think you’re ready. G’night everyone. Don’t wait up for me,” she sassed before making her way out of the room while throwing a peace sign.

Yes, Queen!!
