“Don’t worry, my beautiful woman. We’re just getting started.” He lifted and yanked me onto all fours, folding his body over mine before driving his cock into my wetness again. As he started rocking with me, I pushed against him, bucking hard. Together we became a force of nature, rocking together in perfect orchestration.

“So amazing. So beautiful.” His whispered words tickled my skin, keeping the adrenaline rushing through me.

I had no idea how long he fucked me, his stamina continuing until I was weak, exhausted. Yet I never wanted to leave his arms, the rush too delicious. Thrust after thrust, my body drifted further, the pleasure reaching levels I didn’t think existed.

As my arms began to tire, he wrapped his arm around my waist, holding me against him. He remained rock hard, swelling with every passing second. When I finally lolled my head, issuing a string of ragged moans, I sensed his body tensing once again. He was close, so close. I squeezed my muscles, marveling in his guttural sounds. And when I could tell he was close to erupting deep inside of me, I clamped down even harder.

My sweet reward was his ragged roar, the raucous sound allowing a sloppy smile to cross my face as he erupted deep inside. His body spasmed for several seconds. Then he forced us both to collapse on the bed, our hearts beating together.

He held me close, so much so I wasn’t certain I could breathe normally yet when he wrapped his leg around mine, cocooning me even closer, I allowed myself to relax. We both remained quiet, the comfort of being in each other’s arms special. I was well aware that what we shared tonight might never be repeated. The heaviness on my heart was stifling, bringing several emotions to the surface.

“You found him, didn’t you?” I asked after a full five minutes had passed.

“Volkov? Yes. In Miami.”

“When are we leaving?”

“You’re not going with me, Emily. I’m sending you back to New Zealand after you’ve visited your mother.”

“I should be allowed to go with you.” I tried to pull away, but he was having none of it. A part of me realized that it might be my only chance to get away from him. Was it worth the risk?

You don’t want to leave him. Don’t deny it.

The little voice had been nagging at me for hours, days. Everything was confusing, which wasn’t like me. I craved him, but he was dangerous, heartless. He was cruel. And he was caring. I closed my eyes, hating the fact I no longer had a sense of purpose.

He kissed the back of my head, rubbing his face into my hair. “I refuse to risk your safety.”

“What makes you think your intel is correct?”

“Because I trust in the information that was given to me.”

“I thought you didn’t trust anyone.” I bucked hard enough against him that he rolled over on his back, allowing my freedom.

“It’s complicated.”

“Nothing is complicated unless you allow it to become that way.” I peered down at him, my breath taken away by the insanity of his good looks. “What do you intend on doing when you find Volkov?”

“Killing him.”

“It will always be that way. You take a life then another life is taken.”

“That’s the way of the world I’m forced to live in.”

I shook my head. “Nobody forced you to enter the life, including your biological father, if he’s truly your father. You made the decisions to become who and what you are.”

“So wise yet so naïve.”

“If I’m naïve then I’m okay with staying that way, at least in this regard. While you’re gone, think about something for me. I can’t and won’t ask you to change, but if you had the choice all over again, would you choose differently? Or is the lure of power that strong? Do you plan on stepping into Volkov’s shoes, becoming the almighty Russian Bratva boss?”

He was obviously amused, a smile crossing his face. “You have questions that I can’t answer right now, but I promise you that I will when I return, and I assure you that nothing will stop me from getting back to you.”

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep.”

“You do care about me.” The grin on his face was playful.

“Yes, I care. I’m insane for caring about you. I’m insane to think that this… this passion that leaves me breathless will last. You’ll grow tired of me. It’s that simple. That’s not the kind of life I want.”

“What do you want?”
