“I really do, Ethan.” I breathe. “I want to fight for you, and I’m ready to.”

He places his hands on my cheeks, presses his forehead to mine. “I’m so happy to hear that.”

I collapse into his chest and he holds me close. He skims his fingers along my upper arm, sending shivers across my skin.

I tilt my chin to look at him, and his gaze meets mine. In his eyes, I don’t see our future or our past. I see our present—two flawed, imperfect individuals who are dedicated to each other. Who believe in something bigger than ourselves, bigger than our mistakes and where tomorrow might take us.

Ethan places kisses across my cheeks, on my nose. Showers my neck with them. I close my eyes and savor the moment.

And when his lips finally, finally, meet mine, I see that he was right. Because everything about this moment is perfect. Everything about this kiss is perfect.

Now, I understand—love is always worth fighting for. And it all started with a road trip.

Floral arrangements or white-water rafting? Nope, no comparison. But hey, I can handle one day of tranquillity in my life. For Elsie. She had no one else to take her shift at Georgetown Floristry. I’d freefall off Bridal Veil Falls for my bestie.

Such a strange name for a waterfall. Yep, my veil sure had taken a dive and long washed away. Single again.

I crush a stem a little too tight, pricking my skin. “Ouch.” My finger goes straight into my mouth.
