"You are going to be phenomenal in this role. I'm so proud of you," I tell her. She has worked so hard for everything she has, and as much as I wish she would stay here with me, I know this promotion is a huge opportunity for her and will put her on the map for bigger and better things.

"Thanks, Quinn. You know I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for you. You entrusted me with things a normal assistant wouldn't get to do, and I am so grateful for that. You're my best friend, and I'm going to miss you so much."

"Stop, you're going to make me cry," I tell her while my eyes fill, and I blink a few times to keep them from falling. We give each other another big squeeze and separate from our hug.

"As much as I'd like to continue this cuddle session, I have a ton of packing to finish. I love you, girl, and I can already tell this place is going to do wonders for your soul," Hailey says as we both get up off of the couch and start walking to our rooms.

"I think so too, Hailey."

After showering and getting my PJs on, I'm lying in bed, hovering in the space right before you fall asleep where you let go of all the things that happened in your day and you're about to fall asleep when I hear my phone vibrate on my nightstand.

Cooper:I just wanted to tell you that I had an amazing time tonight, and I am really glad you decided to move here.

Holy shit, Cooper texted me. Squealing, I sit up in bed and read his text again. If I didn’t already think Cooper was different from any other guy before, this confirms my thoughts. He didn’t even let a day pass before reaching out to me about our date, and I’m so happy he’s on the same page as me. I take a minute to put my thoughts together before I respond.

Me:I'm pretty glad I moved here too. Especially after tonight.

Cooper:What happened tonight?

I love that he’s teasing me right now because without the levity, being honest about my feelings is a lot more difficult.

Me:I went out on a date with a very handsome man who can kiss like no other.

Cooper:Who was he? I hope he was a gentleman.

Me:There was a moment there where he was a little less than gentlemanly.

Me:But I didn’t want him to be.

Cooper:Whew, I was a little worried there for a second.

Cooper:So... you liked the kiss, huh?

Me:I loved the kiss.

Cooper:Good, so did I. The best I've ever had to be honest.

Me:Me too…

Cooper:I'm happy to hear that.

Me:Good night, Cooper.

Cooper:Good night, Quinn.

I put my phone back on the nightstand. The best kiss he's ever had? That's a little hard to believe. I'm sure he's had hundreds of kisses before me, so there's no way mine was the best. Then again, what was the point of saying it unless he meant it? Cooper doesn't seem like the kind of guy to say anything he doesn't mean. He's so sweet and kind, not to mention sexy as hell, which makes it hard to believe he would feel that way about me.

The kiss was definitely the best I've ever had, and to be fair, I've had a decent amount of first kisses. None of them even compare to the one I shared with Cooper tonight. He dominated the kiss but was so gentle at the same time. It was addicting, and I don’t think I could ever get enough.

If we end up going out to dinner, I'm not sure how I'll make it through the whole night without jumping him. I don’t think he’d mind. From what I could tell, the kiss affected him just as much as it did me, so maybe we could skip dinner and go straight to the kissing part. A little shiver runs through me as I imagine it.

I roll over and try to calm my racing thoughts, which isn’t easy when every single thought I have is about Cooper. All I can hope for is that my dreams will be filled with those golden amber eyes and passionate kisses.

COOPER

Instead of having the laid-back day I originally had lined out, I've spent most of the afternoon out on the highway aiding in a big semi-truck crash. Some hot shot decided tailgating a semi would be a good idea, and when the truck had to stop suddenly, the hot shot slammed into the back of it, causing the truck to careen off the side of the road taking about six other cars with it.
