My heart sank, thinking something was wrong with my girls.

“This is Le’Asia! They killed her! They killed my sister! They killed Bee Bee!”

“What?” I said and sat down in the chair, not realizing it was there.

“What?” Cam said quickly.

I put the phone on speaker.

“Who?” I asked, fearing I knew the answer.

“I don’t know who, but she was in Allana, and they shot up Tony’s truck,” Le’Asia cried.

“Who told you she was dead?” I asked, not really knowing what to ask or what to say.

“Tony!” Le’Asia answered.

“Tony?” Both Cam and I said at the same time.

“Yeah, he called his people from the police station because he’d been arrested, and my sister is in the morgue. We don’t know what to do,” Le’Asia said.

“Alright, let me make some phone calls. Tell Fats to call me so we can talk to the police and get her body released,” I rattled off, going into attorney mode.

“Okay, I will tell her. We gone have to set up a gofundme page cause we can’t bury her,” Le’Asia said.

“Don’t worry about that. Just tell Fats to call me when she can.”

“Okay,” Le’Asia said.

I ended the call.

Cam stood over me and pulled me into a hug. I didn’t know what I felt. Was I sad? Angry? In shock or disbelief? Was she really gone?

“Baby, I’m so sorry,” Cam said. “We should probably go pack so we can be with the girls.”

The girls…I exhaled deeply and hugged Cam tighter. How did you tell two little girls that their mother was never coming home?

“I don’t know how I’m going to tell the girls.”

“I will be right beside you,” Cam soothed.

“Thank you, baby.”

“Come on. I will call Samuel to get the jet to us while you get packed,” Cam said.

“Pearline, we can come and get them. You really don’t have to bring them,” I said into the phone as Morris and I walked through the small airport outside of St. Louis.

“No, please let me bring them. I need to check on you both and I want to support as you inform the girls,” Pearline said.

“Okay, that’s fine. We will see you there.”

I responded to text messages from Keeva, Robin, and Tweet before tucking my phone away. I’d sent out messages to let them know what was going on. Morris had been on phone calls with the police in Atlanta and Beatrice’s family.

He didn’t say much on the plane ride home. I didn’t bother asking him any questions. I knew he wasn’t in love with Beatrice, but I knew he still loved her. I was devastated and fought back the tears just thinking about someone my age losing their life and leaving two small girls behind. I didn’t drop a tear, though. I had to stay strong for Morris and the girls.

“Where are we going?” he asked after disconnecting from a call.
