When we had returned to his home, we had found it empty. Ana and those who had survived the fire that Frila’s lightning had started had left. Even the Styx was uninhabited; the spirits and souls that had been trapped among the water had found freedom. No longer did they dwell in the dark depths; now they lived within Faenir’s shadows. He did not call for them often, but when he did, I saw the silver glow of the phantoms dancing happily amonghisdarkness.

Charon had also found freedom. The ferryman’s boat was left moored upon the shores of the Styx when we had returned. Faenir did not say a word as he pushed the boat back into the water and helped me inside.Charon, like the dead that left the lake beyond Haxton mundane, had found peace alongside Faenir.I was glad about that.

Faenir’s hands gripped my thighs, the pinch of his nails into my skin was thrilling. He refused to let go as he rolled his hips, encouraging his hard length to push in and out of me.

My arms straddled either side of him, keeping me leaning over him with our lips inches from one another. I looked down at him as I bounced upon him. My sudden control over the sex had him groaning as he bit down on his lip.

“Fuck,”I breathed as Faenir’s pacing intensified. I gripped the sheets as my teeth grew in my mouth, the tips pricking my lips and drawing blood.

“You take me so well,” he groaned; his pleased words warmed me just as his hands did.

“I don’t want this to end.”

“Arlo, darling.” Faenir slowed, moved his hand to the back of my neck, and brought me close to his mouth. “You are mine forever. I am yours.”

“Forever is a long time,” I replied. “You may grow bored with me.”

“Never,” he said, thrusting into my ass until his hips pressed against me.

I howled with pleasure, throwing my head back as my stomach cramped with hunger.

Faenir noticed. He brought his wet lips to my ear and whispered, “Drink from me.”

I could not deny him. His invitation was what I longed for. I studied him beneath me. Dark hair fanned out across the pillows in a halo of raven shadow. His cheeks were flushed red. Lips glistened as though coated in honey.

“Are you certain?” I hissed, finding it hard to restrain myself from sinking my teeth into his flesh.

“I am going to need you at full strength, my darling,” Faenir said softly, “For what is to come.”

My tongue traced my teeth, running across the points of my canines as they sharpened. This hunger differed from the emptiness of my stomach. It was lust; it spread across my chest and warmed my cold body from the inside out.

“Come.” Faenir continued fucking me, guiding my head down towards his neck. I pressed my hands to the muscles of his chest, my nails scratching across his skin with excitement. “Feast, my darling. We leave soon.”

Night was upon us. I felt it coming more than I could see it. Faenir had thrown walls of thick, impenetrable shadow around the room to stop the sunlight from bothering me. The night’s arrival signalled our departure. Auriol readied herself back in Nyssa. She would expect our return soon.

“Promise me when we come home, to steal me back into this room and keep me captive just as you always wished,” I said, lips pressed to the skin at his neck. My teeth grazed across him, drawing a breathy sigh from my King.

“We are eternal,” Faenir replied, pounding softer into my ass as his hands clawed down my back. His touch was warm against my cold skin. It left trails upon it, marks that would linger. “You are my forever.”

“Oh, Faenir.” My voice was muffled as my mouth was filled with skin. One bite and his nectar would fill me; the thought alone wetted the tip of my hard cock. “I love you.”

The King of Evelina pinned beneath me groaned as I bit into him. My teeth spilled through his warm skin as painless as I could make it. Sweet, powerful blood filled my cheeks, and I drank.

Faenir fucked me harder. I closed my eyes as my body burned with euphoria. Faenir squeezed my ass with one hand and held the back of my head to his neck with the other.Above the roaring of pleasure, I heard his breathless reply. “And I love you. My eternal. My forever. My darling.”

WHEN SHADOWS COLLIDE

Castle Dread loomed before us. The shards of dark brick and aged stone was a stain against the landscape of Darkmourn. Its turrets glowed beneath the silver of the full moon. The light did wonders to outline the many details of this haunting place, brick by brick, at least those that still stood. Much of the castle was left in ruins, torn apart by a witch’s power countless years ago, yet the great doors at its entrance were left unmarked and closed.

I had never been this close before. It looked empty to the eye, but my keen ears picked up movement from deep within. A shifting of light feet. A murmur of voices.

“They’re inside and know we have arrived,” I said.

Faenir stood beside me, shadows crawling beneath his hands in readiness. Auriol was at my other side, hand clutching mine tightly.
