“What the hell?” Linden freaks out.

“Dude, you look like the hulk!” Rowan laughs. He doesn’t seem to mind looking like a Smurf.

“Sorry!” I gasp, still laughing.

“What did you do?” Linden demands.

“I did a spell asking to show me who was who,” I say simply. “Can we eat? Food’s getting cold.”

“Put me back! Put it right! Fix us!”

“It’ll wear off in half an hour,” I say casually, with my fingers secretly crossed under the table.

“Let’s just eat,” Rowan says. “Strangest date I’ve ever been on.”

We tuck in, and the food really is amazing. Linden grumbles the entire time.

“If you’re going to be miserable, just leave!” I yell, exasperated with him.

“And go out looking like this?” he scoffs. “No way. If I’m still stuck like this later, I’m staying until I’m back to normal.”

Damn, maybe I’ll try and change him back without waiting for the spell to wear off. He seems mad enough that he might actually leave sooner.

“At least I can tell you apart now,” I say sweetly, and Rowan laughs while Linden just scowls.
