“Couldn’t you just put in a good word for me?”

“Goodbye, Linden.”

The door reopens then closes and Rowan reappears looking sheepish.

“That was my brother, sorry. I’ve told him to go home.”

“Thanks,” I say, smiling gratefully and not letting on that I've just heard their entire private conversation. I’m wondering how I can get rid of Rowan too so that I can get back to my Netflix and pup cuddles, when Rowan surprises me with his intuition once again.

“I’m going to go and let you have some space.” He smiles knowingly.

“Thank you.” I grin back. I stand and we make our way to the door so I can see him out.

“By the way,” Rowan says on the doorstep. “Linden wants to ask you out. I think he’d like to apologize too.”

“Yeah, well, if he wants to he can do it himself, can’t he?” I cross my arms and smirk.

Rowan grins at me, pulls out his phone and fires off a quick text. I’m assuming it’s to Linden. A second later his phone beeps and he reads the incoming message. He laughs. Turning his screen so that I can see it, I’m able to read Linden’s reply: Challenge accepted!
