Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK.

I ran. Well, flew. Fuck. Poor Whit. What was I thinking? I just freaked out and...and...the next thing I knew I was flying out of there, and I couldn’t stop or go back because shifting back would mean walking around topless which I’m not prepared to do.

“Sacha? It’s an emergency. Can you come over?” As soon as I’m home and fully clothed, I call my bestie.

“Of course. Do you need me to bring anything?”

“Alcohol. Lots and lots of alcohol.”

“Shiiiiiiiit. I’ll be right there.”

She hangs up and I spend my time pacing before realizing that I can still smell him—Whit—all over me. No, no, no. This won’t do at all.

I peel off the oversized and completely weather inappropriate jumper and step out of my yoga pants and underwear and turn on the shower.. I wait a moment for it to heat up, and then step under the powerful spray, being careful not to wet my braids. I just need a quick rinse to remove Whit’s scent from my skin. If only his touch was as easy to get rid of.

I rest my head against the tiles and groan. I’ve well and truly fucked up this time. What was I thinking? Why did I run? I shake my head and climb out of the shower, closing it off and wrapping the biggest, fluffiest, and most comforting towel I can find around myself.

I dry off and dress in clean clothes—a new pair of yoga pants and another oversized black jumper—and then I sit on the sofa to wait for Sacha, twisting my fingers anxiously to pass time.

“Babe, what’s wrong?” Sacha calls, using her own key to let herself in.

“I ran.”

She appears before me, arms laden with bags and the telltale sign of chinking glass.

“Did you at least get glasses ready?”

I shake my head and she sighs, dumping the bags at my feet and stalking off to the kitchen to get glasses. When she returns she looks at me sternly.

“Okay. If we’re doing this, we’re doing it properly, but you only get to have a pity party until it’s time to collect Ade from school—which we will do in an Uber—and then we’re going to have some fun. And you’ll wear some normal damn clothes. Not black. Understood?”

I nod and Sacha cracks open the tequila, pouring a generous measure into the juice glasses she got from the kitchen. I snicker.

“Shut up. It’s not my fault you don’t have shot glasses.”

“I do. But Ade keeps stealing them to use as fairy baths.”

“That kid is lucky I love her…Cheers.”

I knock back the drink she hands me and place the glass down on the coffee table. Sacha refills it and gives it back to me.

“Right. One more and then you spill the beans.”

I do as she says, knocking back the drink and then sighing.

“Whit came to the yoga studio for a class and afterwards I did some reiki on Leah’s bad hip.”

“Is that Mona’s dog?”

“Yeah, that’s the one.”

“Whit was waiting for me and watching and afterwards he asked if I could do reiki on him. So I did.”

“Okay…?” Sacha frowns at me, not getting it.

“Things...heated up.”
