CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE

ELLIE

Ellie sat in the business room at the inn where she and John were staying in Ireland. It had been a while since Liz had written her, and she was anxious to read the email that had just come in.

Her eyes absorbed every word. It was as if Liz was talking to her.

“Fantastic news, Ellie! I think one plan of ours is working. Shane and Charlie have announced that they’re dating exclusively. Shane has confided in me that he’s working on a few personal issues, and nothing more serious can take place until he’s sure of himself and this commitment. But if you saw the way they look at each other, touch one another, you’d know they’re goners. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

“As for the others, it’s like herding cats, trying to keep track of all of them. Livy did tell me the other day she’s having fun going out with any of the men who ask her. Brooke and Adam have decided to be careful of what they say or do in front of Skye, so nothing’s happening there. Morgan has gone home to help with her sister’s wedding. And Jake told me the other day that he’s going to ask Brooke out. We’ll see where that goes.

“Eric, Dylan, and Austin are still question marks. I’ll write you later. I’m busy seeing what other things we can accomplish. Sam tells me to butt out, but you and I know that’s not going to happen. I promised you. Right?”

Ellie closed the lid of her laptop and smiled. Shane and Charlie were perfect together. She’d always known they would be.
