“No Savvy I have some business to handle but I’m going to stay here until you get back to make sure you’re ok.”

“Yeah, right you’re staying to make sure Nate doesn’t try to come back here with me and to make sure you keep an eye on me for Joshua.”

“I still think there is a reason he’s disappeared, Savannah, he is military. I mean him and all his brothers disappeared.”

“Former military,” I remind him. “He hasn’t been on a mission in years. And as far as his brothers I do not have an explanation for that, for all I know they’re on vacation. Hell, they do everything else together,” I say anger tinging my voice when I think about the fact that not only did, I lose Jag, but I lost all the brothers I’ve come to love as well. And not one of their asses thought enough of me to say a fucking word! So yeah, I’m going on this damn date even if it kills me.

I began walking to the door and out to the truck that Jag bought in Richland and ended up giving me. Peter walks me to my car and helps me in. I’ll see you when you get back. Alright Peter I’ll see you soon, I say as I drive off.

I get to the restaurant and he is already inside sitting down eating an appetizer. It’s a good thing I have no attraction to this dude because he would have already blown his chances with me. I get to the table and he just says hi Savannah, he does not get up, doesn’t pull out my chair, he just keeps eating and smacking. I should’ve skipped this disaster in the making, I think.

“Want some appetizers?” he offers the half-eaten plate to me.

“Oh no thank you,” I say.

Joshua

It’s been three whole weeks, three weeks since I have seen, talked to, or held Savannah. But we got the mission accomplished, we got the General’s daughter and the leader of the terrorists group. His daughter is going to need medical attention and therapy, but she can get through this. I’m wondering if I have a relationship to go back to. I know if she walked away from me for three weeks with no explanation or communication…naw I’m lying I stop myself from even thinking that bullshit.

I still wouldn’t let her go but she’s not me and I can only imagine what she’s thinking. We touch down and our foreman is there to greet us. He's former Army so he knows the deal. He brings our lock box to the site that has our ID and phones and other stuff. The General is there to greet us. He General steps forward to take his daughter from Anson and he refuses to release her, and she refuses to let Anson put her down, so he leaves with the General.

I grab my shit and jump in my car leaving my brothers to get home the best way they can and rush to Savannah. When I switch my phone on the phone notification just keeps going off and 90% of them are from Savvy. I call her but she does not answer so I text her, but I get no reply. I know this is not her late night but maybe she got caught at her office with one of the students needing help.

When I get off the elevator, I see her friend Wanda talking to another faculty member and head over to her.

“Hi Wanda, is Savannah still here?” She looks at me like I’m the dog shit she just stepped in with her new red bottoms.

“No, she left already,” she replies.

“Did she happen to say where she was going?”

“Oh, now you care about her? You’ve been gone for weeks.”

I look at Wanda and let her see the savage I keep under wraps in my eyes. I am not playing this fucking game with her. I don’t owe her shit.

“Do you know where she is?”

“No, she left about an hour ago.” She says as she takes a step back.

I leave the college and head to the beach house praying the whole time that Savvy is there. When I pull up to the house, I don’t see the SUV, but I do see Peter’s car. Maybe they’re out together. I get out and go into the house calling Savvy’s name. But it’s Peter who comes around the corner to tell me Savvy is not there.

“Where is she Peter?” I ask

Peter tells me with a smirk, “She’s out on a date.”

“The fuck you say?” I say to him.

“I said she’s out on a date. Since you disappeared on her she felt she needed to move on with her life.”

“Yeah ok,” I say. “Where did she go on this little date?”

I don’t know if it was something in the tone of my voice or the look on my face, but I could tell Peter didn’t give a fuck about telling me about Savannah’s date.

“I’m not telling you where she is Joshua,” he says with an I don’t give a fuck smirk on his face.

“Say less,” I tell him.

When I get back to my car, I call Jabarri. “What’s wrong Josh?”
