“Well, I might not have been completely forthcoming about my job as a concierge.” Peter tells me

“What do you mean?” I ask incuriously

“I’m not a concierge.” Peter says matter of factly

“Not a concierge? But you were at the hotel almost every day, you had to work there.” I say like Peter has lost his mind.

“Yes, I was there close to everyday but technically I do not work there.” He says chuckling.

“Peter what the hell are you talking about?” I ask.

“It’s my hotel, Savvy. I am the owner.”

“Come again?” I say I’m flabbergasted.

“I own the hotel and many others around the world including the one you are at now.” Peter says.

As he says this my mind begins to put all the pieces together, I assumed he was the concierge that day, the way the staff did whatever he said, my bill being paid, when I told him to come see me on his days off and he just looked at me. I feel like an idiot. I remember the day I told him he was going to get fired and he told me no one was going to fire him. It was all right there. How Joshua knew him, and he knew Joshua. I really feel like an idiot.

“Are you still there Savannah?” he says.

“Yes, I’m here, I feel so stupid, I am so sorry if I insulted you Peter.”

“Do you know what drew me to you, Savannah?”

“No”, say.

“Your kindness, you thought I was a concierge and instead of being rude and condescending you were kind to me. And no matter the situation you stayed kind and considerate, so no you never insulted me, and I am grateful to have met you, you are my family now so enjoy the resort, I’ll see you when you get back.”

“Ok,” I say.

“Oh, and Savvy.”

“Yes.”

“All the staff leave at night so you’ll have the entire place to yourself, that means you can be as loud as you want.”

“Now that’s the Peter I know and love, bye Peter.”

He laughs in my ear, “Bye Savannah. Enjoy yourself and I’ll see you when you get back.”

“Bye Peter.” I give the phone back to Jag.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“It wasn’t my place to tell you Savvy.”

I walk up to him and put my hands on his chest and look up into those amazing grey eyes.

“Kiss me, Joshua.”

And he does and just as it’s getting good, we hear Basam clear his throat, “Dinner is ready.”

Joshua backs away, but grabs my hand, “Come on baby let me feed you, you’re going to need all the energy you can get.”
