Page 22 of Looking for It

Maybe I should have gotten dressed after my shower. At least I was wearing a robe, and I didn’t mind at all the way they were looking at me. “You wouldn’t have made the trip if you weren’t pretty sure I was here.”

Grayson looked up first, an easy smile sliding into place. “It was more fun this way. Chase said Anne said you took off, so...”

“They didn’t mentionwhatyou took off. Probably for the best.” Jax was still staring at my chest.

I snapped my fingers in front of his face, finally drawing his attention. “Am I late?”

“We’re early,” Jax said. “Something told me you were sitting here, conflicted over whether or not your posts were perfect, so you’re going to pull the trigger, hand him your phone to keep you from checking it, and get dressed so we can go mingle in the courtesy suites.”

“Just like that?” Not that I minded. I desperately needed the distraction Jax had promised.

Grayson held out his hand. “Just like that.”

I handed over my phone. Two seconds later, my post was live on the internet, and my heart rate had doubled.

Wait. They said courtesy suites? “If you’re talking to clients and vendors, I’m not going to be a great conversationalist.”

“You’ll be too stunningly gorgeous for anyone to notice.” Jax assured me.

I raised my brows. “You only want me as an accessory?”

“I want you for so much more, but no. I’d never relegate you to something likeaccessory. That’s what this pretty boy is for.” Jax jerked his head toward Grayson.

Grayson chuckled. “You’re such an asshole. You’re lucky I love you.” He brushed his lips over Jax’s.

It didn’t matter that the kiss was quick and something I’d seen over and over. Tonight the sight sent tingles prickling along my skin. It was sweet and hot at the same time. How had I never noticed before how sexy that was? Easy adoration flowed between them. What they had was so real. So tangible. So very much what I wanted to find with my perfect guy.

“Get dressed. We’ll wait downstairs,” Jax said.

Boldness rushed into my veins, buoyed by an excess of adrenaline that wanted to run away from what I’d just put out into the world. “You’re not going to help?” I looked up at Grayson through my eyelashes. “Pretty sure there was talk of you dressing me.”

Jax sucked in a hard breath.

Grayson bit his bottom lip. “Pretty sure we already did that. Still, a repeat is tempting. But we’d be so late if we did to you now even a fraction of the things we want to.”

“All right.” I managed a pout despite the way his words made my nipples tighten and my thighs squeeze together.

As I dressed, I understood exactly what Grayson meant about certain activities making us late. The brief teasing alone tempted me to pull out my vibrator. Or even better, yank the guys back up here.

Instead I smoothed my favorite little black dress into place—the one with the scoop neck, fitted body, and long skirt with the slits that ran most of the way up my thighs. It was a stretchy fabric that looked like satin, so I shimmered but could still move freely. I’d done my hair and makeup for the video, so there was only a little touch-up there, and then I was ready.

I twitched to reach for my phone. To takea quick glanceat my messages. Thank God for Grayson already confiscating the device.

When I descended the back stairs, to where the guys and Lyn were chatting in the kitchen, I was greeted with a trio of whistles. I looked amazing, but the confirmation did amazing things for my ego.

Grayson grasped my fingers before I reached the bottom steps, and I felt like I was making a grand entrance at a ball.

Kind of like that New Year’s dance would have been, so many years ago. The thought slipped into my head without permission, carried on a cloud of doubt and history, and I shoved it aside.

We headed out to Grayson’s truck. It was a snug fit, but since he had a bench seat, it would be far more comfortable than Jax’s BMW Z4. Being pressed between them, the weight of strong arms and thighs resting against mine, was a much better distraction from what I’d done than their random banter about who they met and what they talked about at the show today.

What should have been a five- or ten-minute drive turned into nearly thirty, thanks to holiday traffic downtown. Not that I minded. I was warm and safe.

We pulled into the line for valet parking at the hotel where the parties were taking place. Grayson rested a hand on my upper thigh.

“I changed my mind.” His comment was casual. The way he teased the slit of my dress with his thumb was almost possessive.

My pulse hammered in my ears, as if my heart must knew something my head hadn’t figured out yet. “About what?”
